The Mighty Ginger Ale

Truly an undervalued and forgotten soft drink…

Full of flavour and thirst quenching properties it also comes with no caffeine! bargain!

Also it makes Jack Daniels taste so much better than sodding coke… what is this obsession with that foul muck anyway?

Break open a can of Canada Dry and live longer

While it’s not as popular as the various colas, I wouldn’t say it’s forgotten.

I have a 12 pack of diet Vernors at home right now. And diet Canada Dry is another favorite of mine.

Also, diet ginger ale and sugar-free vanilla ice cream makes a dandy diebetic Boston Cooler.

I figured I’d be the first to mention Vernor’s Ginger-Flavored Soda (not technically an “ale” but I don’t know why the heck not), but you wacky Yoopers beat me to it. I loved being able to buy it at the grocery stores in Dayton, but now I have to go to stores that stock more obscure brands.

Canada Dry is great served 8 parts to one part (red or white) cranberry nectar. Add a small touch of Jameson whiskey and you’ll thank me.

I love ginger ale. If you ever see Idris for sale, grab one. It’s great. Much spicier than what we can get here.

I loooove Ginger Ale, and it was a stomach saver for my first 10 weeks of pregnancy. It’s really a shame more restaurants and bars don’t carry it.

And shame, shame shame on you places who try to cheat me out of my yummy gingeriness by serving me Sprite with a splash of Coke! It may look like it, but it doesn’t taste like it! And after I specifically asked you if you had actual ginger ale, too! For shame!

Oooo, no thanks. I have issues with ginger ale that date back to my heavy boozing days.

We were on a road trip up north, and I took a “Drink Canada Dry” billboard as a direct, personal challenge.

How about Chelmsford ginger ale? That’s good stuff.

<What? Why do I hear crickets?>

Just to set the record straight. I’m not a yooper, I’m a troll.

I live under the bridge.

I am really glad to have found Vernor’s—I had seen an older gentleman buy some at a grocery store, and I decided to try it, since I was in a bit of a taste-testing phase at the time. I was immediately hooked.

In which WhyNot raises awareness:

 Who does such a thing? I’ve never heard of this before!

It’s very common in bars.

Indeed. And most resturaunts too.

I would always tell the customer the truth though, and not try to pass it off as the same thing.

Truth be told, I cant tell the difference between coke/sprite combo and the sweetened *not really ginger ale * drinks out there (aka Canada Dry).

Real ginger ale (made with ginger) is really quite sharp and nice though.

I prefer ginger beer, but I do have a fondness for Vernor’s ginger beverage, whatever the heck it is.

Diet Vernors for me.

Buffalo Rock Ginger Ale. The spice of the South!

Soft drinks are not supposed to burn.

It’s unnatural.

Nah. Give me a soft drink with some bite to it! Bundaberg Ginger Beer…that’s the ticket!

Canada Dry. Pfffft. Gimme Blenheim’s red cap.

Loves me some ginger ale. Most are too sweet these days. Schweppes and Canada Dry were my mainstays at one point, but the national sweet tooth changed all that. Used to be able to buy a brand called White Rock, nice and snappy, not too sweet. Can’t find it anymore. I make a ginger syrup and add a dollop to a glassful. The spiciness and tang help me recall the good ol’ days.

What impeccable taste. I have a bottle in the fridge, well half a bottle really, at this very moment. Someone recommended another Queensland ginger beer on the grounds that it contains less sugar. I can’t recall the name. And I see that there is an alcoholic one out now that is stronger than beer. I’ll want some of that for mid-summer.

Saranac has a great little ginger beer – ginger ale with a creamy head. Delicious.

I also admire Stewart’s Ginger Ale. I don’t quite go for its spiciness, but I give them a lot of credit for making it.
