I figured I’d be the first to mention Vernor’s Ginger-Flavored Soda (not technically an “ale” but I don’t know why the heck not), but you wacky Yoopers beat me to it. I loved being able to buy it at the grocery stores in Dayton, but now I have to go to stores that stock more obscure brands.
Canada Dry is great served 8 parts to one part (red or white) cranberry nectar. Add a small touch of Jameson whiskey and you’ll thank me.
I loooove Ginger Ale, and it was a stomach saver for my first 10 weeks of pregnancy. It’s really a shame more restaurants and bars don’t carry it.
And shame, shame shame on you places who try to cheat me out of my yummy gingeriness by serving me Sprite with a splash of Coke! It may look like it, but it doesn’t taste like it! And after I specifically asked you if you had actual ginger ale, too! For shame!
I am really glad to have found Vernor’s—I had seen an older gentleman buy some at a grocery store, and I decided to try it, since I was in a bit of a taste-testing phase at the time. I was immediately hooked.
In which WhyNot raises awareness:
 Who does such a thing? I’ve never heard of this before!
Loves me some ginger ale. Most are too sweet these days. Schweppes and Canada Dry were my mainstays at one point, but the national sweet tooth changed all that. Used to be able to buy a brand called White Rock, nice and snappy, not too sweet. Can’t find it anymore. I make a ginger syrup and add a dollop to a glassful. The spiciness and tang help me recall the good ol’ days.
What impeccable taste. I have a bottle in the fridge, well half a bottle really, at this very moment. Someone recommended another Queensland ginger beer on the grounds that it contains less sugar. I can’t recall the name. And I see that there is an alcoholic one out now that is stronger than beer. I’ll want some of that for mid-summer.
