I have an old Joystick, and a /mumble/ port to USB port adapter, and I use the two?

Okay so here’s the deal I have an old Joystick that uses a port that my new computer does not have. I also have a gamepad (that I don’t use anymore) that came with a /mumble/ port to USB port adapter. The adapter will fit on to the joystick. ** Can I use the adapter on my old Joystick so that I can use my old joystick on my computer?**

Will it be damaging in anyway to either the computer or the joystick.

I doubt that the original drivers would work, but I think that the generic drivers will work on the joystick.

Should I try connecting my joystick to my computer using this adapter?

Thanks in Advance

Assuming that a mumble port is a regular 15-pin game port, and not a 210-volt powered ultra force feedback port for the discerning combat sim enthusiast, it should be no problem.

hmmmm, now I’m getting an error message: Your gameport, or Gameport drivers are not properly configured Please consult the Device Manager. And do what?

I went to control panel, game controllers and selected three axis joystick etc (not one of the options with any brand name beside them) and it game me that error message.

Any help?

Do you have the driver disk that came with the game-pad?

You might try installing the USB version of the driver. It can’t hurt, and might do the job.

A generic USB joystick driver like this one might do the trick, too.
