I have caved. We have ordered the complete Buffy

I kind of want Xander, although I have a bigger crush on Simon. He’s so cute. And much less, well, teenage. [SUB]I know that the actor who plays him is in his twenties. He’s still a teenager. Yuck.[/SUB]

Mr. Lissar is in love with Willow.

Lou, I’m jealous. Jayne, YoSafBrig, and Book? Argh.

I pre-ordered the Chosen Collection when it was first announced late last year and watched the entire series in about three and a half weeks in December, took a break until about May, and have been watching it piecemeal again since then. I typically put in a disc at random most nights before bed and either watch an episode or listen to a commentary depending on how tired I am and how much attention I want to pay while drifting off to sleep. I’m also seriously considering ordering or asking for the complete Angel set from amazon.co.uk (and may get the Australian two-disc version of *Serenity *from a friend in Brisbane) for my birthday, which will complete my Mutant Enemy library.

And since both Xander and Willow have been claimed, I’ll stake claim to Oz, Riley, and … um, Fred (what? Other people are picking two and no one else is going to want Riley anyway) because none of the other remaining women really do much for me.

Funny how Buffy herself’s not been named yet.

Amy Acker is totally hot. I loved Fred in her glasses, but I was intensely attracted to Illyria, of all things!

Also, be careful that the UK Angel box set (which is probably Region 2) works in your DVD player. I’ve been waiting patiently for an Angel equivalent of the Chosen Collection, and was disappointed they didn’t announce such a thing last year.

I recently saw this episode again and was amazed at how incredibly creepy those floating villians were. This was a truly scary episode.

I will remember to watch “Hush” with my glasses off, and hiding behind Mr. Lissar. Maybe I’ll just listen to the quiet. That can’t be too scary.

Right?

<snerk>

No, not at all. Not creepy, not one little bit. Just ignore the shuffling creatures in the straight jackets…they’re harmless.

While I wasn’t *intensely *attracted to her, I actually agree that she was a more attractive character. I like nerdy, bespectacled waifs as much as the next geek and Amy Acker is pretty objectively attractive but there was something about Fred that just didn’t click with me whereas Illyria had that certain intangible that attracts me to so many of Joss’ other characters. Seth Green, Nicholas Brendon, Alan Tudyk, and Amber Benson are all rather odd looking people and even Alyson Hannigan and Summer Glau are more … quirky than beautiful but I absolutely love Oz, Xander, Wash, Tara, Willow, and River based almost entirely on their personalities.

The funny thing is, I don’t fall for characters from other shows. Outside *Buffy *and Firefly, there’s only character that I’m actually attracted to – Kira Nerys from Star Trek: Deep Space Nine – and, thinking about it just now, she would probably fit in great on either *Firefly *or *Angel *if she were human. Joss writes characters fantastically.

And, yeah, the *Angel *box set is Region 2 (and the two disc *Serenity *set is Region 4) but my DVD player can be easily hacked to be region free. I checked that immediately upon discovering it even existed and am getting tired of waiting to see if there will ever be an American equivalent. I hate the normal sets.

I really hated the unfolding sets (as I originally borrowed a good friend’s copies when I watched them for the first time), but I’ve heard the Buffy and Angel season sets were all repackaged into individual thin plastic DVD cases – I bought the Firefly set recently, and it was also repackaged this way.

Huh. I didn’t know that but I still want the *Angel *box set anyway. It would look so much prettier next to my Chosen Collection.

Sorry, Christian Kane is my boyfriend, and he’s a committed monogamist. It’s a bit weird, really, how into me he is: sometimes I think he imagines the universe contains only him and me, and the rest of you are, like, rear projection or something. I’ll tell him you like him, but it’ll just make his eyes sparkle with tears of joy (at the sound of my voice) as he wraps himself around me and shuts out the world. I need to get him a puppy or something. Or at least some pants; he never wears any pants.

I followed it from the second season until I stopped during the sixth. I watched the finale though, and then I went through the series about twice in reruns. I just got to the end of Angel on DVDs. I’ve though about getting the Buffy DVDs but I wonder if it will be the same now that I’m not really a teenager, and if I’ll just get upset that the actresses are all married and whatnot.

I have the complete series of both “Buffy” and “Angel” now. I’d held out on S. 6 and 7 of Buffy because I like to pretend the series ended when Buff took the big dive, but my daughter wanted them, so she got them for Xmas.

I still have “Firefly” but just cannot get into it. Don’t know what it is, but it’s not capturing my imagination the way Buffy and Angel did.

At least I can get my Boreanaz fix on “Bones” now. He’s pretty much the same, dark character that he was on Angel. I sure wish they’d let him loosen up more often and maybe sing “Mandy” on karaoke.

Simon? Who the hell is Simon?

I’m thinking she means Giles. Giles, Simon, Ian…all those Brit names sound alike.

Simon. Simon Tam Not a very good picture. I was a Firefly nerd long before I was a reluctant Buffy convert.

The Chosen Collection is some of the best money I’ve ever spent. You will absolutely enjoy it! I also have the complete Angel series, and Firefly and Serenity.

I ended up rewatching Buffy and Angel basically back-to-back several months ago, and was struck all over again by Wesley’s transformation. I always loved Wolfram & Hart, too, especially Gavin and Lilah’s relationship.

Oh. You switched franchises in mid-lust.

Sorry dear, I dibsed Simon Tam simply ages ago.

Definitely the best portrayal of the character arc from wimpy abject failure to badass abject failure I’ve ever seen.

That’s odd, I thought it was one of the most brilliant moments in the history of television.

Unprecedented, maybe, but brilliant? I don’t think so.

Let’s add a brand new teenage sister to the Slayer’s family and see if anyone notices!

My first time through, my reaction was, “What the hell is this crap?” That reaction never really went away.
