I have caved. We have ordered the complete Buffy

To me, that was the genius of it. Totally “WTF?” for a good 4 episodes, trying to figure out what was going on. Then it was explained, and it all fit. Beautiful.

Did you just call my badass Wesley a failure?!

Oh, dear. Don’t fight, now.

I have discussed getting Angel with Mr. Lissar. We’re going to wait until we’re in the four season. Probably this summer. Maybe we’ll rent, first. How much is the complete Angel?

Damn straight. He was a failure as a Watcher, he was a failure as a rogue demon hunter, he was competent as part of Angel’s crew but ultimately a failure for reasons I shall not spoil for those who haven’t seen it, he failed Fred, he failed Lilah, he failed Angel again in later seasons in ways that I shall again not spoil and he apparently failed his father back in the day.

“Let’s see if anyone notices”? Well, of COURSE we would notice, and we would wonder what was going on, and if Joss Whedon had lost his mind, and so forth… until it eventually all made sense. Which, mostly, it did.

This thread made me do a bad thing, credit-card-wise. I went to Barnes and Noble last night and took advantage of their “Buy one TV box, get one free” and finally picked up all of Angel.

Lissla Lissar, using our Barnes and Noble membership discount, I paid $110 for all five seasons of Angel plus season 8 of The Simpsons.

I came late to Buffy & nabbed the Chosen set the minute it appeared. My teenage years are long, long ago.

I’m not a teenager. I’m 28. I’m quite enjoying it. Well, it does occasionally make me think, “Thank heaven I’m not a teenager anymore”, but beside that, no problem.

Err… I think I forgot the question.
Sorry about causing spending, John. If you happen to be back at B&N, and spontaneously decide to pick up a second set, I can definitely send you my address!

The individual season sets for Buffy and Angel all just dropped to $19.99 on Amazon. Previously they ranged from $35-$45. I thought I was getting a great deal on the five Angel sets when I shelled out $120-- then the prices changed the very next day. Also, interestingly, the price of the Chosen Collection box set did not change, so it’s now actually cheaper to buy all seven Buffy sets individually.

Obviously the audience noticed, but it took a while before any of the characters did. I wouldn’t have such a problem with it if Dawn were less annoying. Also, Dawn’s existence is tied to Glory, who is one of the most irritating villans ever.
