I went today to renew my driver’s license, because I needed a new pic taken (no test necessary). 15 minutes from start to finish. Yay for efficient and friendly public servants!

Illinois has gotten MUCH better. A trip to the DMV, while no picnic, is not the soul-crushing hell it used to be.
I just got a new DL, and when I showed it to a friend last night, he said “You really look grim.”
“I’d been sitting around for an hour and 15 minutes waiting for my turn,” I replied.
Same with me! Ontario really has managed to improve things quite a bit in recent years. I remember going to the Ministry of Transportation office in their Downsview office complex around 1995 to get a vehicle abstract… that was nasty.
