I had my wife come join my boss and me and another colleague for a drink once (job/boss in London, we live in Edinburgh).
She was unimpressed when I told her he thought she was utterly delightful.
He volunteered that unasked the next day, and she happened to later ask what he thought of her (yes, I know). I think she thought he might be making some sort of snide remark…
