I have seen the good on Netflix, and end up watching garbage.

I have a trial of Amazon Prime. I just wanna stream movies, and 15 dollars a month is my maximum for streaming entertainment.

I am confused on how streaming on Amazon Prime works. Seems that they want me to rent movies, and not much for free.

Maybe AP is not the way to go? Is there a better way to spend 15 bucks?

Thanks.

Look at Criterion Channel.

Amazon has a lot of B movies, foreign films and generally cheap garbage. Their new titles are limited. They do have some good shows and the fact it combines with the Amazon Prime 2 day free shipping is the nice part. While you have prime, check out some of their original shows. Good Omens, The Boys, The Tick were all outstanding.

Maybe try HBO Max free trial. If you like it, it is $14.99 per month. Your budget amount.

What types of movies are you looking for?

isn’t hulu plus only $6 a month now?

On amazon prime, while you scroll you should see a little white banner in the upper left of the video description. It’ll say ‘prime’ in blue letters.

If a video on the amazon video app has that, that means its free to rent with your prime membership. There are ways to only search prime videos for free and avoid all the rentals too in the interface.

Another good free app is tubi.tv. THey have tons of movies and TV shows, all free (with commercials). I also like plutotv and crackle (both free and ad supported).

I’d say most of what I watch is netflix, hulu, tubi and amazon prime nowadays.

Thank you for your reply.

I like comedies, drama, action, sify. Mostly looking for escape from the real world.

Thank you. I will try them.

I did try hulu, but it doesn’t recognize my country.

Maybe sample the various streamers.

There is a Hulu & Disney+ deal for $12.99/ month. Gives you the Disney Vault, Marvel Films, Star Wars & Hulu has loads of TV shows, some additional movies. Try it free, if you like it keep it for a few months and move on to the next streamer.

Amazon used to have most of the older HBO shows, but they unceremoniously dropped them all just a few weeks ago because HBO wanted them for HBO Max. I was literally halfway* through watching Deadwood on Amazon when it suddenly wasn’t available for free anymore. I guess that doesn’t really help the OP; I just wanted to complain about that.

*And I do mean literally halfway. I had watched season 2 episode 6 before it went away.

Be forewarned, I had Amazon Prime, and found it essentially worthless in Panama, since almost nothing I wanted to watch was available in Panama. You could run into the same problem where you are.

The best way to keep within your budget is to sign up for a specific service for a month or two and then cancel. You can watch all the shows that interest you and then move on to another service. I cancelled my cable 2 years ago and now sign up for different streaming services. I already have Amazon Prime for the delivery, so I don’t pay extra for their streaming service and I also have Netflix - but having watched most shows/movies of interest and until new shows are released, I have to look for other services for new or interesting shows. So I keep within my $20 monthly streaming budget by subscribing for one or two months services such as: HBO, Showtime, Disney+, BritBox, Acorn TV, or Broadway. I binge view the new channel and then when I am finished I move on.

In the beginning… <James Earl Jones voice>… Amazon Prime was created so that for an annual fee, you can get orders delivered free in two days.

Period.

The business about streaming movies, TV shows, etc., was added later. Afterthought. Secondary. Doesn’t pretend or aspire to be the be-all and end-all of streaming services. Streaming stuff was not and is not the Prime-mary reason for having Amazon Prime.

Carry on.
