I have to put my cat to sleep today

Oh honey, she’s not gone! She’ll be with you always. We in my family still regularly talk about our dogs who died 14, 11, and 3 years ago. They are with us every day. My mom still cries over her beloved dog Brick, who died 65 years ago. She’s not crazy; she just loved him.

Your kitty is merely invisible now. But she’s still there.

Yet another hearty thank you from me for all your kind words and sympathy. It’s never easy losing someone you love.

I opened my mailbox today and there was a card in there from the vet’s office. Inside it says, “Our thoughts are with you as we share in your sadness at the loss of your companion.” And handwritten by the doctor: "Dear Alexx, I am so sorry for the loss of Weenie. It is never easy to say goodbye to a friend. She is now at peace. Sincerely, Dr. Rachel Spence "

I’m touched that she took the time to send me a card…this vet’s office has impressed me beyond words on many occasions. If anyone is in the Edmonton area, I highly recommend the General Veterinary Hospital. They are thoroughly professional, competent and some of the kindest people I have ever met. I know people who travel in from out of town just to go to this particular office because of their incredibly superior service.

And yes, my cat’s name was Weenie. I know, I know…

Wow, thats really nice of them to do that for you

Due to the fact that you’re in mourning ( and, we along with you by dint of our virtual community ), you get a free pass on this one.

( I am kind of eager to find out, however- did you say " Who’s my big Weenie??? " when being affectionate, or " Who’s my little Weenie? " )
:stuck_out_tongue:

I’m so sorry to hear of your loss. I had to do the same after 16 years of furry love, and it broke my heart. You are in mourning for a family member, and don’t let anyone tell you you’re not.

You sound like you have an excellent vet.
