I haven't been sick in a long time

This is really mundane:
I have not been sick this year at all so far and can’t really remember the last time I did. No sore throats, no colds, no nothing. Do you want to know why? Because I wash my hands like twenty freaking times a day now. I don’t have OCD or anything I just wash my hands a lot. Whenever I shake hands with someone I wash my hands. It feels great not to be sick!

I’m glad you haven’t been sick!
As for things at our house, we finally stopped getting sick all the time when our daughter was out of elementary school. It lessened even more when she was in high school. Now that she’s out of school, we don’t get sick at all, anymore.
Nice, isn’t it?!

I haven’t been sick in over a year and a half and likely even longer. I know this because I haven’t called in sick once since I started my 2nd to most recent job in Oct 05.

Ironically, I’m also incredibly passé when it comes to germs and the like. I rarely wash my hands, almost never use soap, and will sometimes eat food if it’s dropped on the floor (to be fair, it does depend on the floor).

I’ve read that those who don’t worry too much about catching germs often have a strong immune system. I feel like the guy from Unbreakable.

I’m sort of a combination of Red and pool, if such a thing is possible. I wash my hands quite a bit, but I’m also not all that concerned. I started using hand sanitizer some a couple years ago when there was a shortage of flu shots, but I’m hardly the zealot about it. I squirt it on maybe a couple times a week.

I was sick a lot when my first child went to daycare and school, but that has lessened more and more over the years to the point where I’m rarely sick. When I am, it’s a much, much abbeviated form from what the rest of the family gets, thank God, because I’m the Doc Mom and have to take care of everyone. For example, the entire household (three kids, one husband) was on antibiotics for an icky chest congestion/cough thing, and I think I felt a throat tickle resulting in a cough once or twice. I felt a little tired one day. And that’s it! Like I said, Thanks be to God, because it would be hell to care for all the little ones (and the one big little one) if I was sick too!

I haven’t been sick for years either, not even a cold. I think it’s because I’m not around other people all that much, and kids, not at all. Little germ carriers, they are.

I went through a five or six year period in my 30s where, IIRC, I did not get sick once.

Then I had a kid and he went to preschool. :frowning:

My experience, too. I’m awful about washing my hands. I eat perishable food that’s been sitting at room temperature for two days. I don’t even wash fruits and vegetables from the store half the time (not that I eat a lot of fruits and veggies). I haven’t been sick this year yet, and I think I might have had a minor cold last year, but I can’t think of any memorable illnesses in the last four or five years.
