I love them big, noisy, flying homopterans. I’m on the Eastern Shore of Maryland and have had not a single cicada sighting to date. Not. a. one!
Where the hell are my cicadas!
They will appear In late May when soil temperatures reach 64 Fahrenheit and some rain falls to soften the ground.
Or move to Sydney - we have a cacophony every summer.

I appreciate the offer, but given the general tendency of your fauna I anticipate these would be poisonous, stingered, acid spraying cicadas.
You’re going to regret this thread shortly, when you can’t walk anywhere outside without their dead carcasses crunching beneath your feet and you have to sweep them off your windshield in order to drive.
$20 says you open another thread in a month or so called, “When are these damn cicadas going away?”
In Penna. and NJ, the cicadas don’t come out till mid-August. When I hear them, I still get that sinking “summer’s almost over, school’s starting soon” feeling in my stomach, decades after I’ve graduated.
I saw the first skin molt here in west central Indiana about 3 days ago… kinda got me all excited. My husband and I looked at the shell for quite some time.
Look out, summer, here we come! 
OK, puh-lease! We live in a global capitalistic paradise! Why tolerate the inefficiencies of Mother Nature when you can easily just go out an BUY a cicada?:

I don’t have a copy to hand, but I’m sure an issue of New Scientist not too long ago mentioned something about a ton of insects, dormant since the 80s, that are due to pop out of hibernation pretty soon. Are these the critters they’re talking about? Supposed to be a bumper harvest of them.

I haven’t seen any yet. And I’m in a red area on all the maps, so I want them to emerge. I think it will be great fun watching the cats desperately try to get at them through the balcony door!
