I heard the most appalling thing today..(attn: science types)

I was coming back in from lunch today and as I walked by this lady’s desk I couldn’t help but hear part of her conversation. I don’t know the context of what I heard but I work in the mortgage business and this lady just started so I’m assuming a friend had called her cell phone and she was talking about her new job. This is what I heard…

“…the astronomers, the physicists…you know what I’m saying? That stuff never changes.”

I froze dead in my tracks and aaaalmost turned around to ask her if I just heard what I thought I heard.

Normally I don’t post stuff this mundane but I just couldn’t believe my ears when I heard this one and I had to share. When people ask me what I think the hardest college major is I usually say “Probably something like physics, because it’s always changing.”

As a doper it is your sworn duty to combat ignorance in all it’s forms wherever it may be found. You must go educate this person. . . In this case I’d take backup.

Are you sure she was actually talking about astronomy and physics.

Maybe she meant: “Astronomers and physicists, they’re really smart, that never changes.”

Or, “Astronomers and physicists are difficult to work for, that stuff never changes.”

Astronomers still stay up all night, and physicists still break stuff. Astrophysicists stay up all night watching for God to break stuff, then they try to explain it. :smiley:

Which is exactly what i’m doing now - staying up, trying to understand how/why God broke the big galaxies…
