I Heart Huckabees, Lebowski, BottleRocket: Need a good comedy...

My girlfriend and I have been watching a lot of good movies lately, but they’ve all been really heavy, serious movies: Constant Gardener, The Pianist, Syriana, etc. We need something a little more light-hearted.

We’re also not in the states, so we’d like to know if there have been some funny movies lately (in the last year) that we might have missed. I mentionned the movies in the title just because I think those are some of the best movies ever made that aren’t serious at all.

Anyone got any suggestions?

Have you seen Wes Anderson’s other movies? Bottle Rocket was very good, but I think he’s improved immensely as a filmmaker since then. Rushmore is great, and The Royal Tennenbaums is my favorite film ever made. The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou is a step down, and probably his most challanging film, but still well worth it.

The two funniest movies of last summer were Wedding Crashers and The 40 Year Old Virgin.
(at least IMHO)

Seen and love them all. My girlfriend hasn’t, though…

We were thinking about the 40 Year old Virgin.
