I injured myself...on my birthday

Well, actually I may have injured myself two days before, but it didn’t make itself known until the 9th.
There I was in a casino, at the end of the eight hours that I had spent with two pals. Bus trip, movie on the bus, had a stop in Barstow, casino-hopping, lunch, candy, coffee, buffet, outlet shopping, aqua massage and regular massage, playing video poker and slots. I was waiting on my two pals to finish cashing in their vouchers; we needed to go outside and get back on the bus. I realized I’d left my sweater on a stool and started walking over a little bridge/ramp thing.
Then it happened. Almost audible. Something snapped/popped inside my right calf. I grabbed the railing to keep from falling. Let’s just say that it’s damn hard to climb up and down the stairs of a bus, or any stairs for that matter, when you’ve injured your calf. Could the massage gal have pushed too hard on the back of my leg? I wondered. Could my Skechers Bikers Sightsee shoes not have enough arch support. I wondered that too.
Then I had a flashback to a couple of days earlier: I had put a cardboard box on a luggage carrier, loaded said box with heavy textbooks, secured the box with bungee cords, and pushed and pulled it up a steep sidewalk to an office so I could donate the books. I’m guessing this was the fatal mistake.
My worried friends let me lean on them a bit so I could walk/gimp when I had to. My calf is swollen on the inside and kind of high up.
So I’ve been doing the RICE routine now and plan to call the doc as soon as possible to see if physical therapy is in order.
Otherwise…it wasn’t a bad birthday at all.

Good grief.

Ouch! I hope it’s not too serious! At least it happened at the end of the birthday celebrations!

Happy Birthday!

Well, I have anti inflammatories and muscle relaxers now, and in a few days we’ll see if I need to go to phys. therapy. If I wrap it with an ACE bandage, I can almost sort of walk like normal. Sort of. But it hurts.
Ah, a birthday to remember…
