I intentionally violated a Board Rule

However, after a couple of months of trying to get a mistake that I made corrected by those of you who are in charge, it seemed to be my only option. If I get banned because of it, I am no worse off than I am now because, through a simple mistake, I’m already banned.

I was previously registered under the user name of David Simmons with an email of dwsimm2000@yahoo.com. In late April I changed my ISP and changed my email address with the SDMB. In doing so I made a mistake in my new email address. When the SDMB board software attempted to send an automatic confirmation of my change to the address I entered, there was obviously an error message returned saying there was no such address. As a result, the software immediately blocked by membership and I could no longer post. As long as I was logged in as David Simmons I couldn’t even access the board to read the posts.

I have sent about 6 messages over the past 3 months to the SDMB managers through the various board methods of contacting them, with absolutely no result.

I would really appreciate it if someone who knows how would clear my original registration so that I can start using my original user name with the new email of dwsimm@iwvisp.com. If you want to throw me overboard because of my transgression I can live with that, but I enjoy the board and would rather participate than not.

Dude, you need to e-mail a mod or an administrator and explain your situation. Taking on a second screen name is against board rules, and will curry you no favor with the staff. Just some friendly advice.

Dude, did you even read my post? I have emailed an explanation of my problem to the board administrators 6 times and have gotten no action, as I thought I said quite plainly in my OP.

I also said quite clearly, I thought, that I had intentionally violated a board rule and could live with it if it resulted in banning me because I wouldn’t have lost anything.

You must be one of the administrators.

OK, if we’re being pricks, then don’t do anything until the mods/admins get back to you. Don’t violate board rules and freely admit it. Don’t post at all.

If we’re being civilized, then e-mail them again, taking the shotgun approach and e-mailing all of them, send it high priority with a read reciept and a specific subject line, be sure to include your new e-mail address (with no mistakes) and chances are, they’ll hook you up. They’re probably swamped with real life stuff and havent had a chance to address your request yet. Be patient and send friendly reminders. If you did nothing shady under “David Simmons” (see? I did read your OP), then there should be no problems. Just hang tight.
