I Just Beat The Odds Of 1 in 230,114.60! I Won $10,000!

Sweet! Whenever I read about winnings I automatically deduct half for taxes, so it’s good to know you get to keep it all!

How ya doin’ good pal? Sure…you just sit by your phone and wait…I am dialling numbers randomly and I am sure I will hit your phone number soon…the odds can’t be that bad. You just sit by that phone and wait, OK?

I can’t believe how lucky I am to have a good buddy pal with a million dollar idea! And if I can’t trust somebody named The Weird One, who can I trust?

.

Should you not have your SS# with you, or should you be a foreigner, they simply take out about 33-34% of the winnings and you can walk away with the remainder. Always wiser to have your SS# handy and get a 1099 as even the most incompetent of accountants can save you some money on those taxes.

Hey baby. You ever seen Indecent Proposal? ‘Cause I been wantin’ to become a thousand-aire for a looong time.

You folks from 'bama really know how to shoot for the moon, doncha?

But sorry, unless your real name is Chuck, 'fraid it ain’t gonna happen.

Well, hell. Can’t blame a girl from tryin’.

Well, hell. Can’t blame a girl for tryin’.

Wow. My first double post.
I feel so used.
Like someone should have bought me dinner first at least.

Don’t go frettin’.
If you ever get to Las Vegas, I’ll spring for a buffet…oh, and, uh, bring your brother along if ya want…

Let me see if I’ve got this right. The casino will, on average, take in over $230,000 before having to pay out for an 8-number win. When the win happens, they pay a measly $10,000?

I realize they have to pay off the other (smaller) wins as well. But even so, this sounds like a ripoff.

Casinos aren’t in the charity business, and I would say that the people who play them mostly know that. So DMark and his SO gamble what they can afford to lose as entertainment; we all waste money on entertainment without ever expecting anything beyond being entertained in return (you can blow $100 on a movie for two pretty darn quickly).

Could be a bit more entertaining with a more reasonable rakeoff. Something in the 80-90% area seems borderline unconscionable. With blackjack/craps/roulette, isn’t it around 10% (or less)?

So are the other 230,115.60 people having fun, too?

Congratulations!

I’ve never been to Vegas, but if I ever went, I’d not take more money into a casino than I was prepared to lose, and would consider that amount to be my “entertainment money” for the night. I’m betting (heh) you do it pretty much the same way.

Hey,** DMark ** … Congrats all around.

Tell ya what, though, if you’ll just share your numbers with me, next time y’all come up here to Elko the wife and I will give you 25% of the rake and cut ya in on a sweet deal on some ‘lake front’ property … Just a couple of grand down & we’ll negotiate the intrest and payments later.
::checks map::

I know there’s gotta be a lake around here somewhere …

::makes futile attempt to fold map::
I’ll even pop for a buffet for you and SO at the Red Lion …

OR maybe even someplace that serves something edible …

Lucy

Thanks for the offer, LucyInDisguise…ah yes, the beautiful lake country of Elko…of course, that was shortly after the glaciers moved through Nevada, but still…

You want my Keno numbers? Sure…they are: 25, 26, 35, 36, 46, 47, 56, 57…(those are the real numbers) and of course, you will call me when you win big and split those winnings, right?

Maybe Jim and I should use those numbers for our bi-monthly lottery ticket. The ones we’ve been using haven’t done much for us so far.

Pretty cool! Enjoy your new-found largesse!

Aren’t those numbers a bit high for a lottery ticket? Most lottery tickets here go to about 38 or 49 tops. But please, by all means, play them…if you win it, I imagine it will get you back to Vegas sooner!

Speaking of lottery…my SO has played lottery all his life and I think his top winnings has been about $500…I once won $3,500 in the German lottery, but spent a hell of a lot more losing over the years while living there.

We actually know a guy in Berlin who won the lottery for several million dollars way back when. He stupidly invested in his lover’s business, stupidly bought a Mercedes limo and cleverly bought a condo. The only thing he has left is the condo, where he currently lives, in a great location, for practically pennies in upkeep.

Ummmm. Yeah. Right. Jus’ like I said …
