I have plenty of notebooks but the neatness of having one of these little devilsswept me away. I have no excuses.
Oh, don’t I wish. I’d have to justify it somehow, and the fact that our music server computer is W2K and dead slow is no excuse, given the limited use.
So… what ports does it have?
One of my classmates has an itty bitty computer. I wants it. I have a perfectly good normal sized laptop, but hers is TEENY and CUTE. Wants it.
I bought a BlackBerry Storm. Don’t really need it. But do need to keep up with new tech. I also puchased Garmins GPS software. I already have a good Garmin GPS, but I also wanted it in my phone.
I’ve been thinking out getting something like this to take on trips because I’m tired of carting around my current laptop. I could almost justify spending that kind of money for it, too. The last time I checked into them (admittedly a while ago) they were more expensive and less functional.
Now I really want one. I keep looking at it on Amazon. I don’t have enough to do today, I guess. It’s not like my current laptop isn’t small and light and cute. (lenovo x300)
Geek porn = unnecessary but cool computer equipment
I bought an Aspire One back in August. I loved it to DEATH.
Literally.
I put OS after OS on it, futzing around with it because it was the one computer we have that DOESN’T need to be kept in a running condition…then one day I decided I’d try Fedora Core instead of Ubintu (cause, hey, the linpus OS it comes with is a Redhat variant and maybe driver support will be good)…and…it never came back. 40 minutes* after that happened it was in a box on it’s way for repair. So long! Hurry back! That was the 3rd of December and it’s due to be delivered back on Tuesday.
(*=which is just about how long it took to open it up, yank the extra ram out of it, call tech support, and get and RMA for it)
I missed it. That’s wierd. The only other computer that’s inspired loyalty is my Macbook.
And when it comes back, I think I’ll put OSx86 on it…just for grins.
My main complaint is it’s battery life. 2-ish hours is a disappointment, but that’s what you get for a $330 laptop, I guess. My second complaint is that I didn’t drop another $20 for the HD version. Why? I dunno, it’s not like I’ve ever run out of disk space on it with gmail and web surfing, but the space would be nice.
Sure wish it’d hurry up and get here.
I just bought this before Christmas, now it’s gone down in price. Still totally worth it.

good choice. I didn’t have a critical reason either. but it is nice to have and gets me in the habit of having my digital files available whenever I need them for when really good gadget comes along. iPhones are almost there-great OS (for version 1), screen too small.
I bought an Acer Aspire One just before Christmas for pretty much the same reason. It’s brown and totally cute. With the six cell battery it lasts around five hours and it weighs a bit over two pounds. So much better than lugging my laptop around.
I have a bad habit of getting myself a big gift right after Christmas. It’s been a car a few times.
