Heh, I’m pretty sure a jaunt to San Francisco would be a violation of his bail conditions. (When your mayor isn’t allowed to leave a three-county area…your city may have problems.)

One of the best indy bookstores, IMHO, is Nicola’s Books . I am not sure where this is in conjunction with downtown AA. It isn’t far from my cousins house. I can’t figure out how to make it from their house to this bookstore or bookstore to their house or from their house to downtown, but it is only like two miles away. I’m special, what can I say. I can, however, make it from my house 70 miles away to either their house or the bookstore. Not both. My brain isn’t wired for family visits and bookstores in the same session.
If you are into comic books and other types of geekdweebdom, Vault of Midnight which was recommended by another Non-Michigan Doper whose name I forget is wonderful for all levels of dorkness.
It is right down town.
