What the hell am I thinking? I just got a new car, the last thing I need is a new (to me) motorcycle, in the middle of winter, to boot. I think I’ll have more luck with this one than ones I’ve bought in the past, though. They were all early 80s models; one was a Yamaha 500 street bike, the other a Yamaha 250 dual sport.
This one’s an '03 Ninja ZX 1200, with 6,000 miles on it, and it looked to be in pretty good shape! I was at a hockey game on Friday, and kind of (read: very) tipsy, and passed by a booth where some police officers were auctioning a motorcycle. The gal I was with stopped to talk to them, and there were no other bids on the bike, so I figured, “What the heck?” I got a call today from one of the officers this morning. Looks like I’ll be driving down to Albuquerque to pick it up on Friday! Looks like I’ll be stopping at CycleGear on the way to pick up a helmet and a pair of gloves.
I think you should give one of your extra bikes for Christmas, you know to like a doper that would like a bike but can’t afford one. You know like me. Just think of of the universal good will this will buy you.
Feel free to PM me if you want to get bonus points for your soul.
Whoops! Upon reread, I realized I was clear as mud about the fact that I’ve gotten rid of all the ones I’ve ever had. One because it broke down, and I sold it for about half of what I paid for it. I gave the other one to a buddy when I moved; I may have owed him some money.
They were both pieces of junk, but they taught me how to ride. I laid them down a few times each, and it wasn’t a big deal. I think that was a lot better for me than starting of with a 1200, so hopefully I’ll be able to keep this one under control.
That’s how they get ya!
1.Wait until the second intermission.
2.Put the motorcycle between the seats and the restrooms.
3.Profit!!!
But, I’m looking at NADA, and I bid about a grand less than what it retails for, so I didn’t fare too bad.
