I just can't find the @#$% thing!

There’s a thread in IMHO called Olde Schoole Computer Games. In it, people are reminiscing about old computer games they used to play obsessively.

I used to play a game called “Detroit”, about running a car manufacturing business from the early 1900s until the (then-kinda-distant) year 2000. After posting about this game, I decided to see if it was available anywhere. I don’t have it anymore and would someday like to get it or a similar new game. (I really, really like cars).

After spending a frustrated four-to-five on-line hours looking for this game, I have given up in despair. Can anyone tell me how to search for this game? Apparently the city of Detroit has a near-lock on all online references to its name, and I don’t remember who made it.

I’m posting this in MPSIMS simply because it isn’t a general question, it ain’t no opinion, and it hasn’t become a flame (yet). I figure the folks here have several thousand years’ of collective life experience. At least one of you might actually be able to point me in the right direction.

Thanks.

Well, I typed +“Detroit” +“Computer game” into Google, and got this, a review site.

http://metalab.unc.edu/GameBytes/issue20/greviews/detroit.html

That gave me a bit more info–apparently, the game was made by Impressions Software.

Then I put +“Detroit” +“Impressions Software” into Google, and found this.

You might actually be able to buy it there. I didn’t bother registering to find out.

Alas, none of the links found by Google allows one to purchase or download the game.

Rats!

Download it here:

Thanks, mattk!

I have spent much of the previous 24 hours relearning how to run this game successfully. I think I even developed a better way of saving money during slow economic times besides firing everybody and selling equipment (it takes too long to expand production to meet demand when the economy improves again).

Once again, Thanks!

While we’re on the topic of finding games, does anyone know where I can find a copy of Worlds of Ultima: The Savage Empire?

Never mind…thanks to Google and 2 hours or so of web browsing, I managed to find it! Woohoo!
