… My arms are fine. But boy, am I tired!
A friend drove us to the airport. He hates the traffic there, and there’s a lot of major construction going on. He needed to get us to the airport early so he didn’t hit too much traffic going back to Mississippi. So we got there at about 1:30 for our 5:00 flight… only to find that our flight had been delayed. According to a gate agent, our plane was coming in from Fort Lauderdale. He said that Fort Lauderdale has a lot of General Aviation traffic, and that everyone was going someplace for the holidays; so our plane was stuck in traffic. We got off the ground at 6:30.
Still, we arrived in Denver in time to catch our connecting flight. Well in time, as it happens, because that flight was delayed. We were supposed to land at Seattle at 11:00. We got in around 01:30. Then we had to wait about 45 minutes for the checked baggage to come out. We finally got on the road at 02:30. With no traffic on the freeway, good weather conditions, and a bit of speeding, we made the 120-mile trip home by four in the ayem.
So 15 hours of airports, airplanes, and freeways; but it wasn’t the end of the world. They waited the planes, so we didn’t miss our connections (in either direction – there was a delay on the way out, too) and our luggage didn’t get lost.
