They opened with Oceans, which I’ve never heard live before!
They played Deep! I don’t think they play this live too often, and that makes it kind of special.
In My Tree was a slightly different (and better) version than we’re used to!
They played Smile!
The energy level of the band and audience was incredibly high. I’m so charged up that I have to use many exclamation points to release the energy!
Ed stage banter was really good and funny. He talked about freedom of speech and explained about he supports the troops. He then segued into Celine Dion and her possible sexual habits. Later on, he mentioned how the band got massages from 8 foot tall Amazonia lesbians. I wonder if his wine went to his head?
The show closed with a wonderful version of Soon Forget, a kick ass version of Bushleaguer, and an even more kick ass version of Fuckin’ Up.
Nice When I saw them (bout 10 years ago) Vedder was drunk as a skunk and falling around the stage with his winebottle. Tell more about Celine Dions sexual habits?
I think that’s what’s so great about Pearl Jam. Each show is so individually fantastic that everyone always leaves with the same feeling you did. I saw them back in Febuary (twice!) and that’s how I felt about bothshows. They were both so great, yet so different from each other that it felt like the experience was yours, that you owned it.
I think it was when Ed came out for the first encore. He after some talk about freedom of speech, he mentioned that he was spitting a lot. He folded an American flag up and put it off to the side saying the he didn’t want anyone to think that he was spitting on the flag. Somehow Celine came up and he said that he noticed that she was always putting her hand over her heart. “I didn’t realize she had one,” said he. He then said the reason that she doesn’t spit is because she swallows!
I just found that I missed Ed’s pre-show performance of Dead Man. I wanted to make sure that I did’nt miss out on buying a tour poster, and I missed that.
