Sigh.
At 31 (okay, nearly 32) my peepers are not what they used to be, I need them for distance and at night.
And I have an appointment on Monday to get my hair colored another color - I have decided on red.
At least they look cute.

Hawt.
Pics?
I managed to hold out till 45, but I went immediately into progressive lenses. Love that aging process…
I’ve been wearing glasses since I was 6. Do I win?
I don’t even want to think of what will happen once my eyes start to age over my 30s and 40s. Sob.
I got glasses at 19. So short sighted that the Opt. couldn’t work out how I found his rooms! The absence of headaches was wonderful and I discovered whole buildings I’d never seen before.
So up until now it’s been paper cups?
I recently went the opposite way, Poysyn. I started wearing glasses when I was 11 (and was blind enough that being able to distinguish leaves on trees was an epiphany). At 34, I got laser surgery, and now have 20/20 vision. It may be too soon to consider it in your case, but it’s available, and it’s pretty damn good.
On the other hand, a pretty woman with cute glasses = hot.
I’ve had glasses since 15. I’ve had progressive lenses since 40. :smack:
I need my glasses for distance and night driving as well. I’ve needed them since I was 25 or so though.
I just got braces. 2 weeks ago today. At 37. They are awful. Uncomfortable and a big PITA. And I’ve got 2 years of wearing them to look forward to. My husband says I look ‘cute.’
Excuse me while I go brush my teeth.
I had braces when I was a teen and just wait until you see your amazing teeth after they come off!
WARNING - they will feel very slimy, and look HUGE.
I’ll post pics when I get some taken. I am usually taking the pics, so it can be a challenge! I am on Facebook though, and in the Straight Dope group there!
You should definitely post pics so that we can see the new you!
I’ve worn glasses since I was 9, but needed them since I was about 6. My close-up vision didn’t really start to deteriorate till I was maybe 45 or 46 (I’m 50 now). I wear contacts periodically, but my eyes get too dry for them at work…
I can’t help feel but this is somehow my fault.
I got glasses in 1980. I just ditched them last Friday (lasik). Actually, I think I’ll blame Balance.
I see - you got rid of your glasses - and I found them.
Thanks
:dubious:
Well, I suppose it fits my username…but if so, it took Poysyn a long time to find my old specs. (And I have to wonder why she was going through the little post-surgery kit in my cabinet. )
The thing I remember about getting my glasses when I was a kid was being able to see the frames, and that irritated me. After a while, you really don’t notice them. At least, when you wear them for 14 years you don’t…I’m not sure what it would be like getting them as an adult, but probably a little more hassle.
At least you took the plunge and got them when you needed them. (At 40, my mom had been squinting and moving things forward and back for years before we dragged her off to the optometrist.)
The good news is, now you can raise your eyebrows and look shrewdly over them when dealing with rude people. Somehow, a piercing over-the-glasses stare from a confident woman strikes fear into hearts during arguments. Not that I have personal experience, of course. walks off whistling innocently
