I just got home from my first day of work in (sort of) my chosen career

I’m the newest student library assistant in the main library. Because I’m working Saturdays, all day, I get a fairly large percentage of desk time - actually dealing with people. While I also know that future library jobs (post-degree) will involve more than just desk work, this is at least something - some sort of library experience rather than only internal audit experience.

I enjoyed it - a lot, even more than I expected to. I forgot how much dealing with the public energizes me. And helping people solve problems…well, that’s just cool too.
I had a damn good day.

cool. theres nothing better than the feeling you get from having a good day working in an area you enjoy

For some reason, I always thought that being a librarian would be the greatest job in the world when I was growing up. Best of luck to you and hope things continue to go well.

BTW, can you check on that copy of The Orchid Thief for me?
It always seems to be checked out. I smell a conspiracy. Thanks.

At the museum where I work, we have an * amazing * library. I’ve decided that when I’m tired of my current job duties, I’m going to transfer over there. (It’s not a lending library–research only. I’d be a archivist/researcher.)

I recently got my first post-degree librarian job, and it feels damn good.

I hope your dream stays with you, and you get a degree!

Welcome to the fold, baby librarian.
