I just had the dang tooth filled at the beginning of the month, and now - poof! No More Filling.
It’s all my mother’s fault.
SHE’s the one that cursed me with weak teeth. Woo Hoo, Genetics! And I didn’t get any sympathy from her when I called. “At least you have opposing teeth!” :dubious: Well, bite me. Oh wait, that’s right, Mom - you can’t. 'Cause of the weak teeth thing.

And how can you lose a filling eating Cup-O-Noodles? It wouldn’t be so bad if lunch had been something, oh I don’t know, actually edible. And of course, I didn’t notice until the filling was gone. Which means I swallowed it. Ick. (Probably more nutritious than the cup-o-noodles.)
Dr Vishnu (the world’s sweetest dentist) will see me in the morning. 7 AM. And she’ll work me in, bless her heart. But 7 am??
I’ve found that losing a filling within a month is NOT my parents’ fault for the crappy teeth I inherited, but the fault of the crappy dentist that was the only one in town our crappy dental insurance would deal with.
Same thing happened to me a few years ago. Brand-new porcelain filling on the front of a front tooth. Two weeks later halfway across the country visiting my mother it falls out. Insurance will pay exactly ZIP since there’s no dentist in her area on my plan, and I’ve got a hole in the front of my mouth. So my mother sends me to her dentist, I pay him out of pocket, and the filling is still firmly in place and looking good. I only wish I could go to him ALL the time.
However, regarding another visit to the dentist for the same filling in a month: Crap. Crap. Crap. Crap. Crap. (Or for visiting the dentist ANY time!)
My dentist tells me fillings should last easily 20 years. Lots of them last longer. Any chance of getting the dentist whose filling didn’t hold to somehow make up for it?
I had a chip fall off of a filling just last week. It’s horrid-yesterday morning, I found that brushing my teeth caused unbearable pain! I had to scrub my teeth with a washcloth this morning and it STILL hurt.
