My niece, an unabashed liberal capitalist chock full of pragmatism and principles has been accepted to the Walsh SFS at Georgetown. Not only does this make me super proud, but it gives me hope for the future, something that has been in short supply for me the last few years.
She is such an amazing kid, has been focused on a career at the state department since she was 12.

Yes. While I don’t post here very often, the SDMB is like home since I have been coming here since I was in college! I remember the board on AOL.
This my hope too. I feel like the whole world is losing its mind and having somebody who I know is solidly rational and empathetic moving toward a position of influence in this country is heartening.
