The title says it all. I’ve been walking around with a 50-Peso note in my wallet since my last drive to Mexico, over two years ago. Due to the near impossibility of exchanging same for American currency, outside of airport exchange counters accessible only to ticketed passengers only, I have thrown up my hands in frustration.
So I put this note into the ATM envelope, keyed in a deposit for $4.39, per today’s exchange rate, and popped it in. I wonder what will happen now. Will I get a sternly reprimandatory letter? Will something worse happen?
When I was a little kid, I did the same thing with an American cheque in my Canadian bank. I typed in the face value, and when the transaction went through, they simply corrected it to the exchange value – no muss, no fuss.
