I just ran 21 km!!! Without dogs on my heels!!!

Hey, Gazelle, I did it, too! Half of it, at least …

Just finished the Munich City Run (a Half-Marathon).

About km 7 I had an inexplicable urge to eat a cheese sandwich and the last two km were rather hard, but I did run the whole way. It took me 2:24:53 from start to finish (thank you, modern technology) and I got a shiny certificate to prove it. That, and about a gazillion pictures my Dad took (of course on the last stretch when I looked like a wheezing lobster).

I salute everybody who’s run a whole Marathon, because my legs feel like they’re about to fall off and I can’t really imagine doing ANOTHER half after that. I think I might just try to train for the Munich Marathon in October, though - I liked the whole experience.

Off to take a relaxing bath now…

Congrats.
I’ve never done that! Get a road bike, its better for your knees and you get to go whole lot faster. Seriosly thats
sweet, keep it up.

Very nice!
and you’re already thinking of your next one. Admit it.

Congratulations!

Nice, I’d have probably collapsed after 2-3km.

Wow, good for you!

The first half marathon I ran was in 1998. I finished in something like 2:35. I wept at the end because I was in so much pain and was so exhausted.

I’ll have you know that I’ve probably run about 20 half marathons since then, and have run 3 full ones. So it didn’t scare me off.

In fact, I think that the half marathon is my favorite distance. It’s long enough that you really feel like you’ve done something treacherous, but not so much that you can’t move for several days afterwards. (well, I say that NOW because I’m actually fit enough for them - first time I wasn’t) Now I’m usually finishing right at (and hopefully just under) the two hour mark.

Congratulations Einmon what an awesome experience.

I love it when there are people just past the finish line handing out flyers for other races. At that moment another race is the last thing you want to contemplate.

And did you have a cheese sandwich after the race?

Thank you all for the congrats! (I was pretty proud of myself, too, I have to admit :D)

Actually, yesterday I was feeling pretty stiff - it has abated somewhat, though. (I went to a stretching class at my gym, that helped a bit) I wasn’t as fit as I would have liked to be because I was sick for two weeks straight during my training.

But I think otherwise I might really like that distance, too, the first 15 km or so were really smooth.

I’m resting this week and next week I’m starting my marathon training, yay!

And Sengle, yes, I did have the cheese sandwich. Today, though, I had an inexplicable urge to eat a peanut butter and jelly sandwich while I was attending the stretching class. So maybe sports equals weird sandwiches for me now…
