I had the same symptoms, and am scheduled for prostate surgery next month. Minimally invasive, they say. But yeah, like everyone else has said, get it checked out.
You are old when you buy Playboy for the short stories not the centre-fold

Is there even still a printed version of the Playboy magazine in America? And last I heard about it was that they didn’t show nudity anymore.
Yeah, now I watch pornhub videos for the stories
It looks like, after ceasing publication of the print edition in 2020, they resumed it in 2025, but on a quarterly (rather than monthly) basis.
They did apparently stop running pictures featuring nudity in 2016, as part of a major revamp of the magazine, but that only lasted about a year before they resumed showing nude photos.
Darn hard for a one trick pony to successfully change its spots.
Or something like that ![]()
Today I cancelled plans with a friend and my reason was basically, “I’m tired.”
He’s older than me, so he gets it.
We had ours in the afternoon…
Naptime!
My husband and I ate at a place called the Yardhouse last night (I think this is a chain, but it was new to us.)
Their motto said something like “Great Beer and Classic Rock.” I thought, “Great. I love classic rock. Heart, Rush, Pat Benatar, sign me up!”
Apparently to them, examples of “classic rock” include:
Jimmy Eat World’s “In the Middle”
Weezer’s “Buddy Holly”
Everclear.
In other words, songs from my adolescence.

Now that I am subject to medication for the rest of my life (itself an “old fogey” thing), I am now contemplating getting a pill organizer. Just to be sure about not missing the evening dose.
Yeah. I recall as a 20- or 30-something marveling at the poor aged bastards who needed such pitiful & pitiable contraptions. I’m never going down that road. Nevar I say!
Mine with 3 compartments per day are now 14 years old. And are starting to get that “old plastic” look & feel. Worse yet they’re about to be too small; one more pill and they’ll be at or beyond capacity.
New pill orgs will be in my shopping cart by year end. But not for Christmas; that’d be cruel.
Uggh!
We don’t have pill dispensers, mainly because our main meds come in blister packs. Which take up a lot of space when you’re going away for 3 weeks. Our meds for 3 weeks no longer fit in my purse.
Sounds like you may be scheduled for the same procedure I had 3 weeks ago (Prostate Artery Embolization).
If so, send me a PM if you have any questions. Spoiler: I am so, so glad I did it.
@Crafter_Man , yes, do it. At the very least, get a PSA blood test. That’s where my journey started.
mmm
I’ve been taking tons of meds for a long time, mostly psych meds. I have a flower days of the week case because I frequently have to check and see if I took my morning meds.
I guess it just gets worse from here.
Thanks for the offer, but I believe mine is HoLEP (Holmium Laser Enucleation of the Prostate). I know that my urologist mentioned lasers, which he seemed to think was very cool. He made some kind of comparison to Star Wars.
I have a pre-admission meeting next week, which should answer any such questions.
People who live highly regular lives bound to an unchanging daily schedule who don’t (yet) have memory problems can get by without an organizer.
Folks like me whose daily schedule is unpredictable or freeform kinda need them. Many’s the day my post-breakfast pills get eaten post-lunch since there was no breakfast.
Folks like you who’s daily schedule is simply a wish in a tornado, yeah. Check early and often. ![]()
I’ve always found it ironic that ADHD medication has to be taken on a regular schedule. You know the odds of that happening when someone has ADHD?
Now I’m responsible for removing my kid’s ADHD medication patch. Can’t put that in a pill box unfortunately. I definitely just did it 40 minutes late, but in my defense, the schedule just changed.
One of the signs you’re getting old, if you’re a woman, is that your executive function tanks. Thanks perimenopause! Because I was doing so well without you!
For some reason, I’ve been getting online ads for an anti-HIV injection. The ads all focus on the extreme inconvenience of taking a pill, which apparently is enough to completely disrupt your entire social life. Instead of just spending two minutes taking it out of your pocket or purse, maybe finding some water, swallowing it, and getting back to your partying or whatever.
My husband is doing these injections. He has some other reason, but I can’t remember what it was.
