I finally got around to setting up my Mp3 tags for my Time Life Series collections and putting them on my player. I’ve got five different sets covering the 50’s,60’s,70’s,80’s and 90’s. Each Time Life Set has about 8 to 12 cd’s. About 50 cd’s in the various collections.
Just Discovered the player will play all the songs if I click the Artist name. They may be scattered all over the various Time Life Collections and they play seamlessly just like a Greatest Hits Album for that artist.
That makes these Time Life Sets even better. Back when I played the CD’s I never knew for sure where a song was. You’d have to read a dozen jewel cases to find it.
I love discovering new hit songs that I never heard before. The classic hit radio stations only play the same songs over and over. One of my favorite rare hits (to me) is a Brit Import series called Time To Remember 1960, 1961 thru 1970. A lot of British acts that never played much here in the US. Great songs that are brand new to me.
Does anyone know what will happen when there are duplicate songs on the mp3 player?
Let It Be may be in three different Time Life Collections and in my Beatles CD. 4 occurrences on the player
Each file would be in its own folder and unique. The Mp3 tag wouldn’t be unique. The Tag will be Let It Be. How will the player handle it? Will it try and play it 4 times?
I wish now that I had started ripping my cd’s a few years earlier. Its a lot of work but very rewarding. I got pretty excited this morning when I realized the player could generate a artists hits playlist from all the cd’s that were loaded. That’s awesome.
I saved ripping my Time Life collections for last because its a daunting project. Especially checking and fixing the tags before loading the music on the mp3 player.
You should rip your CDs to a lossless format. With hard drives being cheap, you can then make back ups and store your CDs as a physical back up. Then when you want to put a song on your mp3 player just use a program like Foobar (again free) to convert your lossless to mp3
