Just saw the classic line-up of Duran Duran at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto. The place was packed and the band put on a great show.
There were a few sound issues early on, but they got sorted out reasonably quickly. At times Simon’s mic seemed low, but you could hardly hear him over the crowd singing nearly every lyric, anyway.
Had great seats. Second row, slightly to house left. If John had broken a bass string, it may well have hit me. As it was, Simon briefly dashed into the crowd, and was less than three feet from me.
Anyone seen any of their other dates on this tour? What’s the thinking? I thought they did a great job.
BTW… the played this song… something about a river and dancing on sand… anyone got any idea what it might have been…?

Aaaaarrrrggghh!! That’s the show I wanted to go to! They played some great songs! Hold Back the Rain? The Chauffeur? Planet Earth? Wow! They really pulled out a couple of deep album cuts, eh?
I’m pouting right now. Yes, I’m 34 and I’m pouting. Harumph!
Heh! supervenusfreak and I saw them back in… thinks
spring sometime, I think, of 2004, when they were at the Tower Theater near Philadelphia. Great show, and Simon really does look better than he did when we were all younger. Neither of the guitar Taylors has aged well, however…
Was Andy Taylor back on guitar? When I saw them in St. Paul they had a temp. replacement, but I was busy waxing smug after paying $40 for a $90 ticket and then slipping down to an even better seat.
I’ll give you Andy Taylor. He was never all that cute. But John?? As I said above (IMO, of course), he’s gotten even sexier. I think my husband and I should have one person, who if the opportunity presented itself, we would allow the other to…do. John Taylor would be mine. In a heartbeat.
God, do I sound like a tween or what? Well, except for the husband part.
When I didn’t see him on a couple of publicity shows on TV, I thought he had quit the band again. But then I heard that his father died recently, so he could have been gone during times when he had to be with his father before he died.

Nutty Bunny is right, Andy missed some dates to be with his dying father. That ordeal is over, and he’s back on the tour.
I’d seen the earlier club tour as well, about a year and half ago. They played a venue here in Toronto called The Koolhaus. That was a fun show, but this one had better sound (once the problems got fixed) and a better light and video/show.
