I have been wanting to go so badly…but I couldn’t justify the cost, I didn’t know a single person that wanted to go except me… I was resigned to just enjoying her on HBO.
The circumstances don’t bear explaining, but I ended up going to see her tonight for free, fantastic seats (that had cost the original purchaser thousands!) and my companion was a lovely young gal who has been dating a friend of mind and who was just as jazzed as me to be going.
What a terrific, terrific show. Nonstop entertainment, front to back. Her recent music is so much better than her older stuff, and it was all that. The costumes, the choreography, all great. I had a blast.
And the coolest thing of all? Madonna asked for a moment of silence, she spoke pretty eloquently about what happened, she said what I consider the right things (You wanna change the world? Start with yourself.) And she informed us that the proceeds from tonight’s concert were all going to a fund for the children orphaned by the WTC attack.
Class act.

PS: The moment of silence was actually acheived for about ten seconds in the middle of assholes yelling “I love you, Madonna”…sigh…
