I don’t usually start pit threads, let alone those of the RO persuasion, but I can think of nowhere else to put this.
What the fuck kind of self-important, self-deluding bullshit IS this?

Meet Madonna-the attention whore. Sex didn’t sell enough to satisfy her ego, so religion is the next thing. Kinda funny that she sticks with the name, “Madonna” if she want to be The Ambassador of Judaism.
I guess red string around your wrist + Old Testament name=devout follower in her eyes…
…
She is, as usual, a self-important bitch with delusions of relevance.
On the off chance that you meant to type “bink”, the correct word is bint.

You mean NT (more or less), right? Not a lot of Madonnas in the OT.
You mean NT (more or less), right? Not a lot of Madonnas in the OT.
She calls herself Esther these days.
Oy. Though isn’t Esther the only book of the OT that does not mention God?
Oy. Though isn’t Esther the only book of the OT that does not mention God?
That would make it perfect – dare we hope you’re right?
She calls herself Esther these days.
Yes, but is she still going for the Immaculate Conception…?
If at first you don’t succeed, try try again…
This is a wonderful article. I’m sure the columnist was deliberately trying to make fun of these people:
Madonna toasted the Jewish new year with Israeli President Shimon Peres and declared herself an “ambassador for Judaism,” local newspapers reported Sunday.
The singer, who is not Jewish…
and
The Haaretz daily quoted (Ashton) Kutcher as telling a group of Israeli businessmen and entertainers on Saturday that Kabbalah had answered fundamental questions in his life and made him a better actor.
Yessirree, it’s Kabbalah that made you pull off the incredibly difficult role that was Michael Kelso.
Dear Catholic Church:
You can have Madonna back. We don’t want her anymore.
Love,
Judaism
Sounds like a load of old Kabbalahs to me.
The scary thing is, I’m not sure she’s doing it for attention. I think she and fellow short-bus passengers like Ashton Kutcher really believe that this bullshit Hollywood pseudo-mystical Kabbalah shit has given them wisdom and insight, and she feels like she should pass it along. I think it comes from being famous and not having anyone around to tell you you are full of shit, which is, for most people, an important corrective when they start to slide off the rails into idiocy and acquired retardation.

Freekin’ BINGO.

In the same style -
Dear Hollywood:
If you take Madonna back and keep her, we promise to disavow all rumors about Jews controlling your business.
Love,
Judaism
Really though - Madonna is about as likely an ambassador for the Jewish faith as I would be an ambassador for Hollywood society.
Does that mean her Purple Penetrator is uncircumcized?
You mean NT (more or less), right? Not a lot of Madonnas in the OT.
No-she took the name of Esther. Very OT indeed. Never mind.
At first, she tried to shock the Catholic church by using the name Madonna and using crucifixes as personal adornment-fashion statements. Then she sang Like a Virgin. Then she did a sex book (I’m at a loss on how to describe it-my library has a copy; I shelved it awhile back), and now she’s found OT God?
Proof positive that she must be really deep.
Then again, how many Detroit cum Scots Jews do any of us know?
At first, she tried to shock the Catholic church by using the name Madonna
Well, it IS her given name.
'Course, her decision to use said given name, and alone at that, may be what you’re referring to. Just saying, for those who didn’t know.
You know, I really shouldn’t bother, but I’ll just give it one tiny shot.
At first, she tried to shock the Catholic church by using the name Madonna and using crucifixes as personal adornment-fashion statements.
She was born Madonna Louise Veronica Ciccone, to a very Catholic family. Madonna was her given name. Catholicism has always been a part of her cultural identity. Her use of Catholic imagery had more to do with her Dead Mother Complex and abusive father than trying to offend anybody. No, she really didn’t care that she was offending anyone, but that wasn’t really the main point of her ‘‘personal adornment fashion statements.’’ She was dealing with her loss by fixating on her religious cultural identity, which she associated very strongly with her mother and her family. She has a lot of songs about this, believe it or not.
Then she sang Like a Virgin.
Totally for the shock value.
Then she did a sex book (I’m at a loss on how to describe it-my library has a copy; I shelved it awhile back),
Encouraging women to embrace their sexual fantasies without stereotyping themselves as stupid or slutty. A shame, that. She’s not sorry, it’s human nature.
and now she’s found OT God?
I know approximately jackshit about Kabbalah, but there is a logical progression here. She was a self-reported deeply unhappy and self-centered person before her first daughter was born. She found a unique kind of spiritual fulfillment in her role as a mother because of its requirement for unconditional and selfless love. This helped her deal with her Dead Mother Complex, a lot, and to focus on the good she can bring to others rather than only to herself. She sings a lot about it on her ‘‘Ray of Light’’ album. This marks a major transition in her life, and thereon she started becoming a lot more interested in eastern mysticism.
Next step is Kabbalah.
Yes, generally people who are famous have some deep-seated need for attention. Doesn’t make them horrible human beings. She said she was an ambassador for Judaism. In a way, everyone is an ambassador of their own religious community.
But I think Sophistry and Illusion is onto something about rich people having no one around brave enough to tell you you’ve gone off the deep end. On the other hand, she’s a devout student, is pretty obviously sincere about her beliefs and is doing what she thinks is best for her family and the world community. Famous rich people tend to do fruity things–at least she’s doing fruity things in an attempt to put some good in the world.
