I just saw someone I know in porn!!

Even so, your high school was probably a lot more fun than mine.

Several of the girls I grew up with stripped in their late teens/early twenties.

I was looking at one of those gallery sites and I thought I recognized the daughter of a friend of mine. I actually joined the site so I could make sure and it was indeed she. I called in my wife to re-confirm (when was the last time you called in your wife to stare at porn) and she reconfirmed it.

We then spent a couple of days trying to figure out what to do (no, I didn’t need to re-confirm 27 more times).

My wife ended up calling the girl (she’s in college) and asking her about it. It turned out that a boyfriend took them and told her it was only for him, he wouldn’t show it to anyone, and if she loved him, etc. etc.

Sure enough, even before they broke up, the pics were on the Internet. Every time she finds out about them, she contacts the webmaster and so far they have always removed them. She has gone to the police about the guy but the pics have a life of their own.

TV

I knew a guy in college whose sexuality was, shall we say, somewhat up in the air. When queried, however, he was 100% straight. He’d never done the deed, though; he was saving it for marriage. He dropped out freshman year, and we used to wonder what he was getting up to…

Until someone spotted him on a porn site. Gay porn, no less. Quite the switcheroo from a 100% straight virgin, it seems to me. But hey, more power to him. Not everyone can get paid to have sex.

I know a guy who found out his wife was posing for amateur hardcore porn. He found the magazine hidden behind a file cabinet in their house; the marriage, understandably, didn’t last long after that.

(On preview, let me clarify: These weren’t old magazines. She was screwing strangers and selling the pictures while married to my friend.)

This guy I went to HS with had dated this girl throughout HS. It was your typical High School Quarterback/Cheerleader relationship. Eventually, they went to the same college (he turned down a football scholarship to another University in order to go to the same college as the girl) and married.

She soon drops out of college and gets a job. He walks onto the football team there, gets a scholarship, and continues with his studies. Sure enough, some of his football buddies start telling him that his wife (who was very virginal in HS and didn’t give it up until the wedding night) is STRIPPING.

Of course, at first he doesn’t believe it but decides he will go with his buddies to the strip bar to shut them up. He walks in the door, and there is his wife ONSTAGE.

Now, if I had been her, I would have run offstage in pure embarrassment. Not her; she saw him and continued to do her act (which was very raunchy). She got offstage and walked up to her husband like nothing was wrong.

They were divorced shortly after. He graduated and has moved on with his life. No one knows what became of her.

And there’s a cautionary tale if ever i’ve heard one. I’ll bet there are thousands upon thousands of images on the web right now that started with the words “We’ll be the only ones who’ll ever see them…”

I remember Dan Savage having a column about this type of scenario some time ago. The woman was in the same predicament, and he basically told her that it was too late to do anything about it. Once the pictures are up, you’re sunk. Even if the original website takes them down (which most legit sites are generally willing to do), chances are that hundreds of people have already downloaded them and are sharing them on P2P networks, via email, or on their own amateur sites.
