I just saw STAR WARS -- it's really fun! (spoilers OK)

Hey, I saw Empire Strikes Back at the Orpheum on State Street.

Great movie! Everyone of course loves Luke but I think Han was the best character. I loved how he shot the green alien before it had a chance to shoot first.

I kinda agree with whoever said that Old Ben was (maybe still is?) Luke’s father. But didn’t Ben say that shiny helmet guy “betrayed and murdered [Luke’s] father”?

I mean, he was murdered by that guy, but that was after he said that. Maybe he saw the future and knew how he’d be killed, and so gave Luke that cryptic clue? (Can Jedi see the future?) So what he said was true, from a certain point of view.

I gotta see this movie again!

Supposedly this is Chapter 4 in the series. (Starting a story in the middle?..that’s crazy!)

Also, there’s supposed to be a big surprise in the last installment. I think we find out that Luke is gay.

Shows how much you know! My Betamax is a VCR, too!

PFFTTTH Like that would be a big suprise.

I liked it a lot!!! But it still ain’t as good as “Logan’s Run!” Did you know it was based on a book? I read the book and it tells a lot that they left out of the movie, like it is based on the “Diary of the Wills,” and that was left out of the movie.

Also, did you know that the girl who played Laeia is the daughter of Debbie Reynolds and Bobby Fischer?!!! (I think he was singer who plays chess)

I think Luke and Han will wind up being brothers and Ben Obi-One their father.

I hope to God they never get too much in detail about Darth Vader. He is best left a mystery.

The only thing that bugs me is it is just too much into special effects! My god, ships everywhere, non-stop special effects and monsters in the bar. I think these films should rely more on interesting characters. Thank goodness, we didn’t have more little creatures buzzing about, it was hard enough to concentrate on the dialogue as it was. Imagine if someday special effects take over and what would happen then? The mind boggles.

Wow! When is this film opening in Europe! I can’t wait to see it!

You guys haven seen anything yet! On ABC this fall will be a cool Star Wars-like show with cool special effects and robot bad guys!
I bet it will last way longer than Star Trek did.

It was okay, but I didn’t like how the aliens spoke incomprehensible gibberish. Everybody knows that aliens speak English with funny accents… it’s like a law or something. Maybe they’ll fix that in a later one?

What do you think would win, the white Imperial cruiser or the U.S.S. Enterprise??

Good news for you sci-fi fans. Another action-packed blockbuster is on the way - Battle Beyond the Stars! Richard Thomas, George Peppard (Breakfast at Tiffany’s) and Sybil Danning (hubba, hubba!)

I’d like to see Marjoe Gortner star in one of these movies. Is there anything he can’t do? Maybe they could get Caroline Munro for the chick. She’s a lot foxier than Carrie Fisher. You know who else should be in it? This guy named David Hasselhoff. I saw him in a great movie called “Revenge of the Cheerleaders” where he played a guy named Boner. Get it?

(And yes, that was an actual promotional blurb for The Starlost in my previous post.)

You guys are all wrong. What this movie really needs is an obnoxious man-sized amphibious idiot spouting imcomprehensible jargon in a broad, minstrel show accent. That and some pop stars no one will remember 25 years from now playing Jedi knights. Like maybe Leif Garret.

Yeah, that would have made it better.

There is just no way that this film will deter Hollywood from it’s present course of providing America and the world with serious, literate cinema for thinking adults ala Taxi Driver and Network. Thank god the bottom-line bottom feeders are thousands of miles away from Hollywood! Whew!

I really, really want to see this, but my mum says I’m not old enough. Maybe come christmas time Dad will convince her it’s ok (i think he wants to go too, he really liked 2001 and reads all that sci-fi stuff). All the kids at school have seen it and say it’s really far-out!

I hear that Dark Vader guy can’t die, is that true? And are the StormingTroopers robots? That’s what Murray in grade two says, but he’s bit wierd, so maybe he’s just making things up (he smells too!).

I have to see this so bad! I saw Pete’s Dragon about a year ago, and that was alright, I s’pose, but the ads on teevee make this look outta-sight!

Sounds like a fun movie! Too bad I can’t go see it yet, on account of I’m not going to be born for another seven months. :frowning:

The main problem with the movie for me was that the 3PEO character had too much dignity. It wouldn’t have been funnier if they just used him for occasional really bad one-liners.

er…

I finally talked my parents into letting me see it, even though it’s rated PG. It was pretty cool but the part where Obi-Wan cut off that guy’s arm was really gross.

I don’t understand one thing. How are we all talking to each other?

I just saw it. It was pretty cool, I guess. But I have some questions I hope folks here can answer:

  1. Old Ben told Luke that Storm Troopers were super precise, or some such thing, because of an off-screen attack on one of those big Jawa tank-doohickeys. What’s the deal, then, with the atrocious shooting they seem to exhibit everywhere onscreen?

  2. If C3PO could speak all kinds of languages, why did he always speak English to R2D2 when they were alone? Why didn’t he just beep and bloop back at R2D2?

  3. What’s the deal with Ben’s death? When the Dark Vader dude hit him with the light saber, he just vanished! Was he disintegrated? Why wasn’t his cloak shredded or something?

I liked the aliens and stuff. That tune in the bar was really catchy, too. I’m gonna use that “Use the Force” line a lot.

I saw Star Wars tooo!! (thought I was the only one). I bet Old Ben is Luke’s father, and it turns out Han Solo and Leia are siblings. Also, I bet Darth Vader (he seems really old!) is Ben’s father or maybe grandfather. I think maybe the Jawas are baby sandpeople, and that the storm troopers are robots, maybe androids. My prediction is that it will become a minor, cult classic.
