I just saw "The Rundown" today, and I liked it . . .

Okay, so the main reason I saw this movie is because The Rock is gorgeous. Is that so wrong? The scenery was breathtaking and the action moved along nicely. There were some funny bits in it as well. There were quite a few plot holes, but I thought it was pretty good. YMMV.

I was 10 minutes too late to see it. But I think it looks fun.

It was fun.

Decent one-liners, decent acting (The Rock is a moderately good actor with some great facial expressions), and some surprisingly good camera work, so long as you’re not tired of the slow-mo stuff.

Worth the five bucks I paid to see it.

I got free passes to a press screening a week before it opened. I went to see it because I’m a huge fan of The Rock, and I like movies with lots of fighting in 'em.

The plot had the potential to be mind-numbingly formulaic, but actually came off pretty well, and kept some interesting twists. The Rock seems to be developing some genuine acting skills to go with his incredible charisma, and for once Seann William Scott was playing something just a teeny bit different from the schtick he’s played in all his other movies. And Walken’s trademark creepiness was fun (please tell me he put on that potbelly for the movie … he looked like refried crap).

Plus there’s a pointless Schwarzenegger cameo, some nice jungle scenery, decent music, and The Rock throws a turntable at someone. A fun movie, worth seeing even if you’re not a rabid Rock fan.

Maybe I’m reading way too far into it, but I thought the Schwarzenegger cameo had a point.

The Rock is going into a club at the very beginning of the movie. Schwarzenegger brushes past him and says “have fun.” That’s it.

A subtle nod from Schwarzenegger to an actor that is quickly becoming his successor in the generic action star role?

I think so.

I want to see it because it’s got Walken, Stifler, and The Rock. What more could you want?

I saw it last night as well, and going in I thought that the movie definitely had the potential of being a complete piece of crap, however thanks to some nice direction and good performances by the actors I found it to be highly entertaining. Slow in some parts maybe, but overall worth my eight bucks. I loved the Rock’s overall antipathy towards violence (except in Scott’s case), very amusing.

My favorite parts:
“He’s got the whole defensive line with him, and they have a legitmate shot at repeating this year. I don’t want to hurt them.”

Everytime he says “You have two options.” By the end of the movie I was thinking “Take option ‘A’ dipshit”, while hoping they wouldn’t so there would be a cool action scene.
Didn’t dislike it, but certainly didn’t like it. Just another stupid action movie, no different than a zillion others, with the “fun” quotient being severely outweighed by the “been there, seen that” and “get on with it” factors. The Rock certainly has potential as an action star, and there were things to like in the movie, just not enough to make me like the movie itself.
