Well, I did it…I decided to upgrade from my 333 with a crappy 48meg of ram.
I now have a 500 mhz processor and 192 meg of ram!!! Also, I installed a voodoo 3 with 16 meg of vram. I actually, couldn’t believe that this upgrade went so smoothly! Usually, whenever I decide to add aanything to my system, I end up with all kinds of obscure problems that take forever to track down.
Now, if I can just wait for Thursday to get here…I’m getting a cable modem installed!!!

I recently had a friend upgrade my PC from 333 to 450, and added more HD. I had a mysterious beeping sound afterwards (finally tracked down and resolved.) So, good for you that there were no problems with your upgrade!
And 192 megs RAM!!! That is fabulous. I envy you. And I especially envy you the (sigh) cable modem!
Yeah, well, I got pc100 64mb sdram chips on sale at a local store for $49.00 each! I’ll tell you what though, this thing moves now!
I love it! I can finally use my programs the way they’re supposed to be used at the proper speed! I just love being able to rip songs from my cd’s quickly. A buddy of mine just bought a minicam that hooks up to the computer so now I’m gonna have to borrow it and play around to see what I can come up with.
As for the cable modem, they were actually here to install it last Thursday and the network card they had kept conflicting with the piece of junk video card I had. So, off to the store I went, checkbook in hand, and went absolutely apeshit. New every-damn-thing pretty much except for the case, power supply, HD’s, tape drive and cd-rom.
Boy was my wife pissed when I walked in with all that junk…
