OK, I went to the bank to get a roll of half-dollars.
The teller told me she had two, so I took one off her hands.
As I was walking out the door, I was looking at what I got. Ya never know when you might get a bicentennial half, a mid-60s 40% silver, or–who knows–maybe a real silver half.
I looked at the first coin-and whaddya know! It was a Walking Liberty half (1917-1947)! Neato!
As were the 19 others in the roll!
No rare mintages, and all were well-circulated (I’d give them all a solid “Good” rating–never got into all those “MS” numbers), but still a neat surprise.
I showed some folks at work, and one person who seemed really interested asked “Which bank?”
I told him–and also told him what the teller had told me: “I have two rolls.”
Guess what? He also came back with a roll of Walking Liberty halves.
He also said that the teller had quizzically told him, “These have been really popular today.”
