I like Eve

Eve reminds of me of Barbara Stanwyk, of Ingrid Bergman, and of Dorothy Parker all rolled into one unashamedly classy, smart, witty dame who I wanna be like when I grow cool. Besides which, she’s the only other person I’ve ever run into who has a crush on Toshiro Mifune (ooh, samuri-yummi!). I do hope to share tea at the Plaza some day with her.

Yeah, Eve’s OK, if you like that classy broad kinda person. But I heard a rumor that she used the wrong fork to pick her teeth at a toney bistro!!!
[sub]no, not really… that was a weak attempt at humor. I’m sure she knows full well which fork one uses to extricate morsels from molars.[/sub]

I’m coming to NY. I might meet Eve! And then again, I might not. The future is wide open.
I hope, though, that my mouth won’t be wide open as she patiently explains that, yes, some movies come in black and white and some were even made without any sound whatsoever! I’m kinda stupid when it comes to these things.

Yeah, but I have it on very good authority that she…oh, well, nevermind.

“Yeah, but I have it on very good authority that she…”

Wears high-heeled shoes and fancy hose?
Paints her face and powders up her nose?

Oh, and, FairyChatMom, I did “use the wrong fork at the Stork in New York” once . . .

Wears hip-waders and fishnet hose,
Had plastic surgery to fix her nose.
Reads Popular Mechanics in the john,
Longs to look like Goldie Hawn.

Eve’s only flaw is the brevity of her screen name. It makes it impossible to search out the threads she has written. I suppose it’s just part of that air of mystery she has about her. Or perhaps a form of noblesse oblige to keep the rest of us from ignoring all other posters and just reading her threads.

But I did in fact start an Eve appreciation thread such as you described. And received the best of rewards; a personal thank you for the gracious lady herself.

I think Eve is a class act with a thing for cows. Not that there is anything wrong with that. I like cows too.
Speaking of class…**Eve ** did you attend your class reunion yet? If yes, what’d ja wear? Didja knock em dead, so to speak? How did everyone look?

to quote Joan Cusack from Grosse Pointe Blanke on her ten year reunion, " Everyone looked the same, only bloated."

She is the Margaret Dumont to my Groucho Marx, and I worship her.

I adore Eve too. I’d like to have tea with her, but I’m afraid I’d behave like a clumsy lout and embarass all present. I’ll just raise my morning cappuccino in silent toast from across the continent.

Ooooh, such niceties! No, Plnnr, I never did fix my nose, and have no desire to look like Goldie Hawn. Goldie Meir, maybe . . .

Shirley, I did go to that college reunion, and had the best time. Most of my old friends had the decency and good taste to get old and fat, too.

Sooooo . . . any of you gonna join me dancing at the Lincoln Center plaza this summer?

I’d dance with you, my dear, but I’m a lousy lead. Perhaps you could?

I checked out the book links. I’m surprised Eve is her real name. Now I know who I shouldn’t argue with about classic film stars, either.

Why would that surprise you? Isn’t she as lovely as the first woman on the planet? I should think so!

I don’t just LIKE Eve… I LOVE that woman.

And why not? She is beautiful, classy, intelligent and courageous. She is witty, warm and wise. And ascerbic when the occasion calls for it. Gotta love that.

And to top it all off, she has the good taste to love old movies. (As do I, you might have already figured that out.)

Dorothy Parker…if she isn’t the modern day Dorothy Parker, I am a scottidogwithabigredbow. If I lived anywhere near this lady, I would resurrect the Algonquin Circle… I am not worthy to contribute anything…I would just sit there and enjoy and bask in the wonderful and witty goings on.

Eve? You are wonderful and we are very lucky to have you among us.

Much Love,

Cheri

I like Eve too, I’ve followed her around the boards, ever since "[Appalled Society Dowager Faints at State of Ladies’ Room] ".

I’m glad you came back Eve, it was very dull without you.

I liked Eve even before I realized she was the same Eve who wrote Vamp.

Now I am in love with her.

Yikes. OK, I am going to ask people not to post anymore to this, or it will look like I am begging for yet more compliments . . . But I had to bump this on Monday morning just to thank everyone for the lovely sentiments, and let you know I am going to print this out right now—before letting it sink from sight—so I can reread it on bad days and cheer myself up . . .
