Yep - I have a king sized bed, with 6 big fat pillows and two big fat duvets and one not so fat teddy-bear, all to myself. I can sleep sideways, diagonally, in an L shape, or upside down, and I never come anywhere near and edge.
Queen sized bed here. I can sleep longwise or diagonal, but not crosswise.
I grew up sleeping on a twin bed, and I usually sleep diagonal, and I prefer to sleep near the edge - I dunno, maybe that helps me “place” myself in the universe.
Despite always thinking that I would like a king sized bed I have found that out double bed with the comfy duvet is just fine. Because really, no matter how big the bed was, Lola and I would always find each other somewhere in the middle, she’d still steal all the covers, and I would still end up waking up on the edge of the bed with her snuggled next to me.
Mind you, it does get a little crowded when the babies decide they want to sleep woth mom and dad…
I couldn’t get to sleep on night during this past summer, so I took all the crap off of the couch in my room, which is about half the size of my bed (twin) and I put it on the bed. I’ve been sleeping on this couch for… oh, about 4-5 months now. The only drawback is that it’s a courdorouy couch and it loves leaving patterns ALL over my body in the morning.
I sleep in a lame college dorm bed, but it’s more than adequate for sleeping at night. Its mattress isn’t as soft as the one at home, which is a plus… anybody else finds it easier to sleep on a hard surface?
Definitely, more than adequate!
Currently, I sleep in a queen sized bed. Maybe one day, I’ll get my king. I had one once and enjoyed it…but, it didn’t make a move with me and I have been lost without it!
I, too, sometimes sleep diagonally. Somehow, though, I usually end up low in the bed, with my feet hanging off the end. Mentioning that…I think I’m gonna go climb back in the bed!
A queen sized bed. You think that’d be enough. Think again. My girlfriend and her dog sleeps on the bed. My girlfriend insists on sleeping almost exactly in the middle and then her dog sleeps sideways next to her. Factor all that in and I have about 2 feet of space to sleep in widthwise.
I am lucky enough to have a queen-sized bed, a really soft mattress, and the best part, with two pretty quilts my mom made. You would think it would be plenty on space but my two cats always take up at least half the bed.
We got two extended twin beds and put them side by side. This is the same size as a king. To my mind this is a good choice. You can each have your preferred mattress type, if you’re a fidgeter you won’t disturb your partner nearly as much, and they are way easier to move.
Queen-size. A king would take up way too much space. And I’v tried kings at hotels, they’re just too big. Pillow-wise, we have five. I get the thinnest two, my wife the other three. When she was with child she had a body pillow as well. She could build quite an impressive fort with those.
Mrs. F. and I share a king. We’re both restless sleepers, and we found out early in our marriage that, even in a queen, we’d bump into each other a lot during the night, to the detriment of our sleep.
With three cats who like keeping us company at night, the king is barely big enough!
When we married, we had my old double. When finances permitted, we replaced it with a queen - it was amazing what a difference the extra 6" width plus the extra length made. Now we have a king, and on the rare occasions when we have to sleep on a queen size (like in motels) it seems too small. Especially for certain, er, events…
I want a king-size bed SOOOOO badly!!! We have a four-poster iron-frame queen-size right now, but I NEED MORE ROOM. I’ve made Mr. Bobkitty promise that when we move into the new house we could get a king-size, and pointed out the fact that in a 24’x22’ room anything smaller would look silly. Only a few more months of cramped sleeping left!! Yay!!
Extra long twin with a nice padded mattress and a firm foam pillow. Add the down comforter and I am happy happy. Until I fall asleep anyway. I wake up with the covers thrown to the four winds, and my pillow sideways and half sticking off the bed. I can only assume I sleep breakdance or something.
