I lost my job.

Good luck, Johnny.

Thanks again, everyone.

Looks as if I might have a bit of fun when I move. My friend e-mailed me to ask how much film I have left. Nine rolls. Shooting 4:1, that will make a five-minute film. He says that since the house has a Lovecraftian feel to it, and the Portland H.P. Lovecraft Festival is coming up, we should make a B&W short and submit it.

What would really be fun would be to get some film gigs. Not a lot happening up there, but I have a 16mm Eclair NPR that’s just itching to be used! (Hm… I seem to remember seeing a little TV studio in Bellingham. Maybe they would have a position open?)

Know what else would be fun? Working at Trader Joe’s. I’ve heard they pay decent wages, and I love the stuff they sell. Too bad they don’t have one in Bellingham! (Okay, everybody… Call or write to Trader Joe’s and lobby for a store up there! Hey, even if I don’t work there I still want to shop there!)

Johnnyman, that sucks ass. If there’s anything I can help you with, give me a yell. Of course, the most I can offer is in my area, and you don’t strike me as a guy who deals with winter too well:) Gladly send you job listings if you need them though. Best of luck to you to get up to the PNW and finding something you enjoy.

Wishin’ much luck your way, Johnny!

Good to hear.

Continuing the vibe sending.

I’ve been there and feel your pain, cowboy!

Hang in there and good luck in finding a new job - remember that when one door closes, another opens.

I’ve been wanting to live in the PNW since I was 12, and in Washington for at least three or four years. The trouble was that I didn’t have money to live on, and that I had bills. Then I had the money and the bills were lower, but it’s sure hard to leave a good job! I thought about quitting, but two years ago they said that some of us would be laid off. If we didn’t quit, we’d get a renention bonus. Well, we weren’t laid off! (They paid out 50% of the bonus to us anyway.) I had already started looking for a house, so I was going to leave eventually anyway. I had wanted to stay until the end of October, or even finish out the year. But this is definitely the push I need to get me up north.

So the door is open. I just need to step through.

Hey Johnny, I’m sorry to hear about your job loss. Sending you best wishes for a good job offer.

On the other hand, you’ll finally get to move up here “God’s country”; the land of fine coffee, fine, fresh food, and best of all incredible views all around. Although I don’t like the traffic in Seattle and further north (good ol’ Puyallup/South Hill suits me just fine); it’s still a good place to be.

As cliche as this sounds, things happen for a reason. I speak from experience. As it turned out in every situation, something better happened.

I’m sure something better is just around the corner for you. Best of luck to you.

Hey Johnny, you might want to try Collection Industry.com. They do some major advertising for the Portfolio Scoring Companies. They have their own job listings.

I wish you much luck. But it sounds like with your talent, you’ll get something in no time.

Thanks, Nvme77. I checked out the site. Only one listing for the Northwest. It’s a Director’s position. In my recent job, that was two levels up. OTOH, the salary starts at $50,000 which wasn’t that much more than I was making. Not enough information on the site to tell if I’m qualified, and no e-mail contact. I’ll keep the site in mind though.

Taters: Since you’re in the area, LMK if you see anything I might do! As I said, I’m not particular.

I bet this will all work out well for you.

Good things happen to good people, so I’m pretty optimistic.

:: practices mind control on Trader Joe’s anyway ::

Damn, Johnny.

I hope you do good. You’re one of my favorite posters. How else would I have learned the difference between reversed flow and retreating blade stall?

Hang (hover?) in there, man.

That stinks, Johnny, especially the timing part. I really hope it doesn’t mess stuff up with your house buying. So you are actually moving to Washington? I remember reading about you wanting to do that for a looooong time. Good for you! Sending lots of positive thoughts that everything turns out for the best.

I just wanted to wish you luck, Johnny. At least you’re taking things better than I did!

CJ

I heard that one of the people who was laid off lost it. She was ranting, and yelling things like “I’m never going to work for you again!” (Heh. Not now!) She just picked up her purse and left. They had to chase her down so they could explain the layoff package and have her sign what she needed to.

Best wishes, my friend! You are one of the nice guys and deserve all the good breaks you can get. Thinkin’ about ya!

I may have missed this in an earlier post, but don’t forget to file for unemployment benefits if you can…it’s not much, but it’s free money.

Good luck!!! Keeping a good thought for you, get out there and find your dream job.

Oh, and don’t forget to play the lotto!

Well, Johnny, you seem like the kind of guy who would understand this thought.

I have always believed that the Universe (or God or Og or …) has a way of giving some of us a push. Like when we have a really good idea for ourselves, and haven’t quite made it happen yet.

So, push!! Happy landings. You’ll be better than fine.

I hope things work out well for you. Maybe you could rent out a room in your new house for extra income. Someone may have already suggested this. I skimmed the posts earlier and returned. Best of luck!

Quasi, coming from you that’s saying a lot! You are a helluva individual.

Thanks.
