I Lost My Smokey Cat Today

Well, shit! I have got to stop reading these threads.

Hello Again, good on ya for being such a good friend to Smokey.

I am so sorry for your loss. Sending supporting thoughts your way.

I’m very sorry. What an incredibly sad story. I don’t know what else to say.

What a lovely kitty, and how lucky he was to have you to give him such a wonderful life.

As someone else who had to let a lovely gray kitty go (mine was only 5) you have my deepest condolences.

I’m glad I’m home today–kitty eulogy threads always make me cry.

:frowning:

A beautiful post for a much loved kitty. I am so sorry.

Smokey was indeed a wonderful kitty. My condolences, Hello Again, it seems that Smokey had a great life with you, and you gave him the most peaceful death possible: he was lucky.

I feel for you. When I read the OP earlier today, I couldn’t post. It brought back too many memories.

i’m so sorry. it is a tough, tough, decision. i’m glad you were able to have the vet make the final visit at home where smokey was comfortable.

Beautiful post. Peaceful rest, Smokey. Be happy.

I read a lot of these pet dying threads but rarely respond to them because I just don’t feel that anything I say could be adequate. But I did want to tell you that your OP moved me- as an owner of two cats myself, I could really relate to it. RIP, Smokey.

RIP, Smokey. So sorry for your loss, Hello Again. That was a lovely tribute.

I looked at Smokey’s photo and, I must say he looked exactly like I pictured him from your beautiful and moving post. You obviously loved him a lot, and I’m very sorry for you loss.

Smokey is waiting for you on the other side of the Rainbow Bridge, and when he sees you, “Brrrrrr,” he’ll say.

I know how you feel. My cat Triscadecaphobia died at the age of 20. He was slowly getting weaker and weaker. He slept the last week or so in a padded box next to my bed. I was petting him when he died. It was so sad.

Rest in peace, Smokey.

Sorry about Smokey - is Bandit handling it? I have a pair of grays, including my primary cat. Losing a cat is hard. Mine are near 10 years, and the idea of losing them is hard.

Having said, that, give a new cat a chance to succeed, not replace Smokey. Each one of the wee bastards is unique and irreplacable.

I’m so sorry for your loss. It’s never an easy thing, even when you know it’s time.

And thank you for your post. It let all of us love Smokey a little bit too. He was a lucky guy, having someone to love him so much.

Ditto. Hello Again, you don’t know me but I’m with you, honey. You’re a good egg and a good cat owner.

We just lost our Rufus cat today to PKD. He was only 8 and died in my arms on the way to the vet today. We miss him so very much and know how you feel. It’s obvious you had such a special relationship with Smokey and I hope Bandit is still doing ok.

Our heart is with you.

Kim and Sharon

R.I.P. Smokey. All my kids get extra luvin tonight.

We had a grey smokey come to our house and adopt us about 5 years ago. She & her siblings were dumped on our road. The others were hit by cars over the next couple days, but she came to our house and never left the yard. She is an awesome cat and is curled up in my spot on the bed right now. I dread the time when that day comes, but will smile knowing she has lived a great life, too.

Thanks for sharing, H.A.
