I love having a Kilkenny and watching the snow fall!

One of life’s simpler pleasures I don’t get very often.

Just got out of court, have an hour to kill until my flight home, so I’m sitting in a pub, nursing a Kilkenny, and watching the snow fall.

One of my secondary school teachers had the surname “Kilkenny”, and being the nerdy type had the domain name registered a long long time ago. He is now a millionaire. (Just adding this as an extra Kilkenny fun story!)

Enjoy the snow, Northern Piper! Are you flying back to a hotter climate?

Naw - from -18 C. to -17 C. Snow everywhere.

But sitting in a pub watching the snow fall in the afternoon was a favourite activity during university days, after exams. Just don’t get the opportunity so much anymore, now with that horrid “work”. I envy your nerdy former teacher!

Well I’m at uni (again) and hoping to see some snow here soon. I’m in the middle of exams/essays now, hopefully the snow won’t set in until after. I will soon be post-exam relaxing, watching snow fall, possibly nursing a Kilkenny…

Incidentally, how is possible that there are plenty of airports on this planet that manage just fine with snow, but when there is just the merest hint in the air here in the UK or in the Netherlands, the whole country shuts down? You seem all relaxed with your Kilkenny and upcoming flight. I would be freaking out, trying to make arrangements, telling my family I wouldn’t make it home for Xmas…

Now sitting in the airport lounge, waiting for the plane that’s been delayed by the snow falling.

Because we get lots of snow here in Canada, so our airports invest in lots of equipment to keep the airport open even during snow. If they didn’t our air travel would shut down.

Britain and the Netherlands don’t get so much snow, so it’s not economical to invest in snow-clearing equipment, but if you do get hit by heavy snow, your airports won’t have the equipment to keep them clear.

Plane has just arrived through what looked like a white-out! And we’re off!

Safe flight. Kilkenny will be consumed in your honour this evening.

Thanks! Home safe and sound.

Is Kilkenny still generally unavailable for sale in the U.S.? It is damn good beer.

Home safe and sound? I think that might call for a small celebration with a Kilkenny

Off to the beer store I go after work! NP is safe and sound, I survived 12/12/12 and most importantly. I’m out of beer.
