I Love Kung Fu Hustle- any other recommendations?

Well, my family and I love Stephen Chow’s Kung Fu Hustle. I’ve also seen Shaolin Soccer, and am looking for another fix. Any thoughts? Are any of Chow’s other offerings good, and are any available in the US market? I’m not opposed to subtitles.

And before anyone else says it, yes, we’ve seen Iron Monkey. Good, but not exactly what we want.

Thanks!

Early Jackie Chan comedy-action pieces, like Drunken Master 2?

I came in here to say this.

Hey, me too! High fives all around!

Jackie Chan’s Project A series and Armor of God films also have the same tone of action/irreverence.

Yes. Note that Armour of God 2 was dubbed and released stateside as Operation Condor.

Drunken Master 2 was awesome! Add me in.

Before its U.S. release, I often saw the import Shaolin Soccer DVD bundled with another Hong Kong film, God of Cooking. I assume it would be sold to the same target audience, so it might be worth checking out.

Rumble in the Bronx is a fun Jackie Chan as well.

So is this a bad time to mention that I can’t stand Jackie Chan?

Did you see Kung Pow - Enter the Fist yet?
It is basically a combination of some old silly Kung-Fu film with new material spliced in and completely dubbed with some really, silly dialogue.
It is not very similar, but definitely worth a watch.

BTW, I absolutely loathe Jackie Chan too.
Stupid circus boy.

I assume you have seen the Kentucky Fried Movie ?

I’ve seen both Kung Pow and Kentucky Fried Movie (love the second, didn’t care for the first)…my son saw “18 Fingers of Death” and was not impressed.

sigh

So, I guess I’ll just have to wait on Chow to release some more stuff to the US.

favorite quote: Don’t make me fight you! Have you ever seen a fist this big? Sometimes I scare myself!

and I still squirm over Shaolin Soccer’s ‘french kiss/suck the raw egg out of another guy’s mouth while holding his struggling body prone’ scene. agggghgh!

Mr Vampire is another martial arts movie with some humor in it.
