For me, I’d have to go with Operation: Condor (a.k.a. Armour of God II) – and I am referring to the original version, not the hacked-up version that was released in U.S. theaters a few years back.
Aside from the fact that this was the very first JC movie I ever saw, it had just the right mix of eye-popping martial arts and slapstick humor to totally click with me. The scenes in the wind tunnel in particular had me writhing in laughter.
I think you have to admit that they sort of blur together after a while, but if I remember correctly, it’s First Strike. Was that the one with the scene in Siberia, the outlandish costumes, and the fight with the ladder? If so, I loved it for those reasons.
Drunken master was fun, Shanghai Knights was fun for a more ‘mainstream’ Chan film, but for really good action, I go with Who Am I. Question, though- was Who Am I ever released in the theaters? First time I ever even heard of it was on cable.
Jackie Chan seems like a charming, immensely likeable guy. And, from all I’ve heard, he’s one of the kindest, most generous celebrities in the world. So, I’d LOVE to give a ringing endorsement to one of his movies.
I just can’t. All the Jackie Chan movies I’ve seen have been terrible. There are usually a few remarkable stunts and a few cheap laughs, but NONE has his movies has been good, let alone great.
My favorite is SUPERCOP. It was the first of his movies I saw (the subtitled version when it was originally released, a few years before the dubbed wide-release here in the states) and it just blew me away.
Plus it’s got Michelle Yeoh. She kicks ass!
Mmmmm… Michelle Yeoh
I like Who Am I? the best. The two girls are cute. I love the chase scene where they pull some nice driving stunts, especially the spin into the parking spot. The boss battle is great against those 2 guys on the roof.
Drunken Master 2 is pretty good, Miracles is as well, First Strike has the ladder fight, Rumble in the Bronx has the fridge fight, but my favorite is Project A, with the Bike Scene, and then the clocktower/tribute to Harold Lloyd scene.
Drunken Master and Legend of Drunken Master (was that one originally DM 2?) are far and away my favorites. I like Chan’s Hong Kong movies better than any of his more recent American films.
I like **Who Am I[b/]. I don’t know that I’ve ever watched it closely enough to follow the plot, but do I love the driving scenes. And the fight on the rooftop with the pair of guys is great. And some great Dutch (?) scenery at the end.
Supercop, hands down. Although I do think of it as a Michelle Yeoh movie that happens to have Jackie Chan in it. Plus it has probably the best opening credits sequence of any movie ever.
