OK, this is not Jarbaby baiting or trolling–I swear and promise…Hell, I wanted to apply to her 7 year itch post, but as a Packer fan and woman, it would never work out…

I really like the Packers.

I lived in Green Bay for several years–went to games at nipple-amputation requiring Lambeau Field BEFORE it became “The Frozen Tundra[sup] TM [/sup].” I loved them when they sucked ass–when they were the bitch of the NFL and especially the NFC central…I loved them when they had Lynn Dickey as a quaterback…and Mr. Majik :slight_smile: Shit, I had a crush on him–didn’t he turn out to be gay? You gotta love a team that is owned by the people that cheer for them. You gotta love a team that comes from a a city that to-my-knowledge[sup]TM[/sup] does not have a building over 10 stories tall…that stands for cheese and meat and all things American (OK that last was not true–I know some veggies and vegans who like them–if not their name and city–I was kidding)
I really like Brett Favre.

I watched Brett Favre go from a crappy, interception-prone (OK he’s still that…) promising quaterback into one of the best in the league. He has sooo much talent–he has that winning drive–yes he’s a bit slow, but who the hell cares?

I must say, I HATE the Bears. Why? Becasue they play twice a year against the Packers and there is a long-standing rivalry. No other real reason…

But, there is at least one among us who hates the Packers for other reasons…and somone who HATES Brett. Now, I know about the Vicodin (shit, I can’t blame him–it can happen and I suspect it did cause he wanted to play the game and not be sidelined…) and I know that he got a woman pregnant and didn’t marry her for a while and all that crap…I do not support him as my personal hero and moral model–he’s just a great quaterback!!! But, I have searched for the reasons for this individual’s hatred and it seems to involve the above-mentioned diffculties and an alleged rape. I looked for a cite–I searched for proof, I found nothing. Maybe my searching skills suck on SDMB–point out a cite for me, and I will apologize and start hating him as a human-being. I will trip all over myself trying to kiss your ass…but, this allegation that he is a “prom-queen raper” [not a direct quote] kinda’ scares me without proof.

Can you give me proof? And I know you have integrity and won’t just say–“a friend told me…” and again, I am sure you won’t give me a mere allegation because that would make me angry…yes there are rapists who never get prosecuted, there are rapists who get prosecuted and found not guilty, but there are also nice guys who get accused of rape by women who are not-quite-right-in-the-head or evil…[a dear friend is one of the latter–the accusee] which category would Brett be in?

Please do not jump all over my ass and call me a “twatcicle.” If this is not something that can be posted here, I ask of you to please only post something like “please email me” and I will do so and you can explain to me in a not-so-public forum.

As far as general–“I hate that team because its players do BAD THINGS” comments, please accept the fact that every team has BAD players who do illegal things and bad things and immoral things. There is not a team in the NFL who can boast about not having at least one of these individuals. Yes, some teams have more of these than others, but I wonder if some players just don’t hide it better.

That said–my boys saved their skins in another exciting game last night–Yippee!!!

This is a pit rant only because I suspect there will be some yelling and screaming and swearing–football’s a hot topic!!!

This is also not just for that individual–this is for you to tell me how and why the Packers suck and for me to explain how they KICK ASS! :stuck_out_tongue:

I don’t know if I’m the individual who you speak of (although I assume I am because you said twatcicle) but I never called him a rapist. MARK CHMURA is the rapist.

I heard a commentator, John Madden I believe say a few weeks ago: “anyone would be proud to have a son like brett favre”. think about it.

I am a Bears fan. I understand you hate me for it. Just as I do not like the Packers.

But I can’t do it anymore. It’s not worth it. Let’s just live and let live.

I’m also tired of being bated in the pit whether you think it is or not.

I apologize if Chmura is the one you meant, but, ok then–do you have proof? It’s wrong to post such a thing unless you have damn good proof, which, I assume you do…

As far as being baited, I have read your rantings about the Packers and Favre and how both suck (albeit I suppose I should have read a tad more carefully to figure out the Chmura thing). This to me is Packer-baiting. I thought you might enjoy a spirited debate about our teams. I am sorry that a response was made to YOUR allegations that pop up every now and again.

There is no reason to be snide in your response…I really do like the Packers and probably would have posted same in IMHO if it were not for the allegations of rape and possibilities of swearing… I am proud of my boys and did a happy-dance when they won last night.

If I posted suck things as “Baseball sucks” and “‘X’ baseball player is evil”, “I” would expect to be called out to the pit to debate such an inflammatory (but not really important) issue. I am sorry that you do not feel that your opinions are worth a little rough-and-tumble time in the pit today…I wanted to know what your beef was–that’s all–in the meantime I was hoping that a Jacksonville fan or other NFL team fan would get grumpy so we could debate the relevant merits of our teams.

FTR, I like you and think you are intelligent and articulate, but I do not appreciate your demeanor and your response…such responses to your postings re Packers should be expected and are encouraged…

My proof of Mark Chmura being a rapist is a 17 year old girl saying he raped her. I understand a packer fan would take his word over hers but I do not. Because I was rape victim and I understand how a man can think he’s ‘seducing you’ when really he’s forcing you to suck him off.

I expected you to come in here and explain why you say you hate Favre–but I guess it was more a question about the rape allegation–which would be Chmura. You say a 17 year old girl said it…good that does NOT mean I would take Chmura’s side on this issue–shit I love the Packers but that doesn’t mean they can’t LIE, CHEAT and STEAL…but this term “rape” should NOT be thrown around lightly…I think you usually back your allegations up and I actually assumed you did have proof…that’s what I was asking for–if, in the meantime, you wanted to do a little Packer-bashing–good—that’s fun stuff and what the pit is for…

If you know this 17 year old girl then know that I am very sorry and wish Chmura a happy time in hell where he belongs. I, myself, am a victim of a gang-rape back in college. I know how bad that stuff can be…

but Bottle, do you ever read a newspaper or watch T.V.? The Mark Chmura trial was numberone wisconsin news for about three weeks last summer. He hosted a prom party where he bought alcohol for teenagers and a girl accused him of locking her in a bathroom and raping her.

He got off because, well, they didn’t like her attitude on the stand and it was her word against his.

Don’t bait people in the pit and expect a civil, spirited debate. It won’t work.

That action is usually invoked by the poster him/herself when they are fed up and need a break. It keeps the temptation of sneaking back on to post at a minimum and gives them the space they need to get away (and keeps everyone and their brother from asking "where’s so-and-so??)

#2 I read the paper, but don’t read the sports section. I can’t follow the Packers as well as I would like because of my distance to them–I live way down south…where they only believe one team exists…

I got some really good tickets to the Bears-Packers game last month. As a matter of fact, when Traylor and Washington would trot off the field, we would have to stand up to see over them. Yeah, GOOD seats.

As I proceeded to drink beer and eat hotdogs, I watched Favre make it look easy. He would hang tight in the pocket when necessary, and he would scramble if the whimsy grabbed him. Our vaunted defense couldn’t touch him. Meanwhile Miller would get the luxury of about 1.5 seconds after the snap before being smothered by a green and gold mudslide.

Favre just doesn’t lose much at Soldier Field. Guess what? We hate that. We hate that Cheeseheads, when not referring to us as Flatlanders or something, call our beloved Soldier Field “Lambeau South.” It’s part of the rivalry.

By the end of that frustrating game, I was spouting such illucid comments as “I hate Brett Favre is the Devil. He plays like a god.” One buddy was repeatedly driving his shoulder into my sternum after each hard-hitting play, in an attempt to get me to spill my beer or pass out, whichever came first. We were screaming into cell phones about the fuckheads who had come to sit behind us and bring the bad luck - except for the other buddy, who would borrow any unused cell phone to leave pleading messages to his wife on his answering machine, begging her forgiveness for spending $170 on a Bears ticket. In short, we were drunken depressed Bears fans.

On the shuttle back to Hawkeye’s, the Packers fans (who held the majority), were remarkably gracious and sympathetic and reasonable. Guess what? We hate that, too. Fucking razz us already! Nothing contributes to the anguish of post-game depression more than an even-tempered discussion of the relative merits of each team. After some nachos, too many JagerMeisters, and the kind attention of a young beautiful cheerful waitress, we felt much better and we went home. And hey! the wives weren’t even mad (we told them we only spent $80 per ticket).

Wrong. I gotta hate them because I’m a Bears fan. But wherefore the hand-wringing, BottledBlondJeanie? Trash-talking and slanderous accusations with questionable authenticity is a time-honored tradition of NFL rivalries. You gotta love tearing down someone else’s hero.

But seriously, I understand your pain. I feel the same way when posters impugn Elvis or Oprah. No big. :slight_smile: FWIW Brett Favre is a wonderful quarterback and such a tough guy. It’s real hard not to admire his talent, and the way he plays the game: with the heart of a winner.

Did y’all see that 60 yard pass last night that he heaved up and some receiver (too much beer to recall) let it go through his hands…arghh That, to me, is what football is about…

But the poor Lions–God–you got to feel sorry for them…although I think I like “Batch of Cookies” as I like to call him. GRRR hate Randy Moss though–and for that matter Deion GRRR for different reasons though…

I like the pack. I was raised on the pack and my father was raised on the Pack. Hell my grandfather was the team doctor for a few years in the 30’s. The Pack has been a family tradition.
Am I a Die hard Pack fan? Nope.
I do like to watch Farve Mr Ironman of the NFL do what he does best. I think his best game this year was against Baltimore. He was AMAZING.
I Dislike the bears not because of their rivalry with GB.
You see I am a Cards fan. Yes the team that left chicago cause they kept getting whiped by the bears. The team that left St Louis cause the could not win.
Yes I am seeing a therapist about my unfaltering support of the cards.

I’m a lifelong Packer fan too, and happy they’re doing well. I didn’t read the Chmura links because I’m sick of it, and him. Only two people know what happened that night, he may or may not be guilty of rape, but we all know he is guilty of doing something utterly stupid and sleazy and a million other adjectives I can think up right now, for being in that position and for who he was with. I’ve lost all respect for him as a person, and I don’t care to ever give it back.

Favre is good, but usually only after he gets hit upside the head one time real good, or some punk rookie is mouthing off to him (ie. Detroit & last night) and that fires him up. Hopefully he can get it together before that is needed on sunday.

That being said, and also because I have so many relatives in Chicago, Go Pack, beat the fuckin’ Bears. :slight_smile:
