I Love Thespians

I think the play was nery good but the cast party was better to go along with Revedge we had much fun at the play <self-pity>but i didn’t get to go to the festival</self-pity> Oh well all is good

It was very(not nery) good too

Oh, I loved Thespian competition this year. Too many fun people and affection for all. I swear, I haven’t had that much fun in a while. This should be why we might be arranging a little Rocky Horror trip along with a possible sleepover at my house.  I did costume design this year, and I got a combined good. The technical ejudicators ripped apart practically everyone’s entries. [Note to self: if you are expecting someone’s performance to be bad, do not sit with someone who giggles easily in your lap.]

I was a freshman in high school.

My English teacher proclaims: “Mr. ______” my last name “is a thespian.”

A guy sitting in front of me says, “No, he’s just gay.”

Class laughs. I don’t care either way.

“Not a lesbian, Mr. ___,” his last name “a THESPIAN.”

Same teacher didn’t use a grade book for any of his six classes.

Never liked being on stage. I prefered doing the backstage work - sewing costumes, arranging music, doing the rehearsal piano work, handling props (heh heh!), box office, marketing work. Everyone sees the on-stage work, but the back and offstage people work quite hard too. And most of the actors appreciate the effort like last-minute costume repairs and thoughtful extras like cookies and munchies for the green room. (And I’m just a volunteer. It’s a nice break from my regular job.)

And Revedge, you’re right about the parties. Wheeee!

Troupe 5880 rocks!!

I’m a techie thespian, gave up on the acting stuff, Im not good enough. I’d agree with Tasha about the judges, except they were stupid. I did publicity and playwriting, and many people believe I got completely screwed over in both.
I’m the only person that can get 3 out of 4 high marks on the sheet, but still only get a good.
I got an excellent in publicity, since I got 2 goods and a superior. I swear, the one judge gave me a good because she personally though my publications costs ($.10 each for 2000 programs) in my budget was too high. And the budget was one of um 8 things I had presented.
Oh well, I;m over it. Thespians still rocks! States is coming in March/April. I’m going, and I;m going to have fun because I’m not competing!!

Oh they’re so much fun! I adore Drama, other than the requirement to take 2 years of artsy classes in high school I would have taken Drama anyway. Acting is wonderful it’s liberating and guy actors are very hot. pouts But why must so many of them be gay? idly remembers her thread about this not too long ago

Kitty

Not all of us are gay . . .

I suck

as a thespian, which is kinda odd, 'cause I’m not bad as a radio personality (although, after 5 years, I quit because I wasn’t improving, and had a new baby at home that wanted some attention), and I’m a great friggin slam poet (come see me at Nationals this year in Seatlle, mid-August).

Maybe it’s ‘other people’s words.’ I’ve got a screenplay adaptation, a comedy short, and a musical in the works. The adaptation will (theoretically) generate money, the other two will cost money. Guess what I’m working on?

The musical.

I’m also the theater critic for the local newspaper. (It’s a very small town) Apparently, they just count the words and don’t actually read them - I would have fired me a year ago. My last review explained Eugene O’Neil’s “Desire Under the Elms” in terms of the Simpsons episode where Sideshow Bob marries Selma. HELLO!

Lauren, you’re going to states? This is pathetic. I see you everyday and I find this out on the boards. I’m just glad that Blinder and Company’s “…And How is Hamlet” is going. It was far too cute.
