I’m having brain surgery

So I had a minor seizure and fell on my face a couple weeks ago. Here’s what I looked like just after:

And thanks for the blood thinners I was on, here’s what I look like a few days later:

It’s not as bad as it looks, the blood thinners really fucked up my face. But! I went to the doctor and they did three CTI scans and declared me healthy. But! I started having severe headaches the following week and went back to the hospital Today, where they did another CT scan and declared my brain fucked up with lots of blood pooling on my right side. Which is where the pain was.

So, tomorrow they’re going to drill two or three holes in my head to relieve the pressure and I will be in the hospital for probably five days which I’m so excited about😖

Here’s hoping it relieves the pain quickly!

Have you had seizures before?

No, I am in a alcohol rehab program, the seizure was thought to be from Alcohol withdrawal

Here’s hoping all goes well!

Good luck!

There’s a “hole in the head” joke here, but someone funnier than me will have to bring it.

Good luck to you, and please keep us posted on your progress as you can.

The hole drilling is not as bad as it sounds. I’ve had it twice.

The trick is to get your seizures under control and get to bottom of why you’re having them. Now, that may be hard.

But, there are very good seizure drugs.
If you’ve had one seizure it’s very likely you’ll have more.

If you have a good neurologist they’ll find out why.

Do you think when you were drinking you had a head bump? Or black outs where you fell? Sometimes it just takes the smallest bump.

My whole seizure thing was coming up after brushing my teeth and catching the corner of the cabinet door with the side of my head. I knew immediately (almost) something wasn’t right.

Next day didn’t hurt at all. 3 days later they were drilling the holes.
The bleed was stopped. I had broke something because I had tremors, and shakes and tilting head. Slurry speech.

So now I have a deep brain stimulous device that fixes all that til it acts up. I just got a new last week.
I was awake for the invasion of my headspace. Wasn’t even a thing. Seemed like they were just messing around my ear. It was loud.

You’ll do fine with the surgery.
But do keep up with neurologist appointments.

No more alcohol. Please.

I’ll be thinking about you. Hope and crossed fingers.

Get well soon.

Best wishes! Hope it all goes well.

‘To relieve the pressure!’ That’s the official line. The holes are really to let the demons out.

I encourage an open mind but this may be going too far.

I keed, I keed.

Take care. Beaming positive healing thoughts at you!

Carl Sagan — “It pays to keep an open mind, but not so open your brains fall out.”

Keep your head up! That way the brains are safe for more posting here.

Don’t worry about the blood thinners. When I was on them the slightest bruise would take up half my arm. Didn’t bother me, but it frightened others. Fun stuff.

Seizures are a known side effect of alcohol withdrawal. As described in post #4.

Yes, I read that.
If that’s what it is, and he hasn’t had a bumped head caused by alcohol use? Maybe mild concussion.

It happens.
I bet alot.

A percentage of patients
who have withdrawal from alcohol can produce seizures and an epileptic condition that is adult onset epilepsy.

There are many ways to eff up your melon and it fights back.

Ok. Now they can run for President on the Republican ticket.

Well, big congrats on the rehab, despite the falling part…

And a “Hey, it’s not like it’s brain surgery…” line.

Well, okay, at least it’s not brain surgery and rocket science…

Jeezum Crow, I hope you get some relief!

It’s too bad Dr. McCoy isn’t around with his fixit tool, like he did with Chekov (Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home).

Hope all goes well and the surgery is a great success.

He did a pretty good job rewiring Spock’s brain back into place, despite having to wing it toward the end.

Anyway, beaming positive vibes toward squeegee and his brain Dream Team.

Best of luck!
