Good luck with all that. Sounds like you and they have a clear understanding of a readily repairable problem. Which is about as good as medical stuff gets.
Best wishes for a complete recovery on the booze, and the brain bruise.
Hey, get better soon. My aunt had some shunts in her skull to relieve pressure, once. It wasn’t very traumatic and it helped her a lot. Best wishes on an effective and uneventful hospital stay.
Years ago a friend of mine had to have brain surgery. She really, really wanted the surgeon to take a pic of her exposed brain matter so she could see it. No dice. She was soooo disappointed.
Maybe you’ll have better luck; it would be a cool souvenir.
FYI, her surgery solved her problem very nicely and the recovery was easy. Here’s hoping the same for you.
My father has a shunt too. The procedure was technically brain surgery, but of the relatively minor kind. And yes, relieving pressure made a big difference for him, too.
I have the distinct feeling that you’ve had a few really miserable things that threaten to define the last couple of years (my POV goes back only since I joined the SDMB during the pandemic) of your life.
I hope the surgery goes exceedingly well, and that whatever remaining battles you have left to fight … that you come out on top, and emerge better than ever.
May all of your tomorrows be better than any of your yesterdays.
I’m out of surgery, seem to go well. A nice lady offered me morphine after for the discomfort. Mostly it’s just my neck is really stiff from being in an odd position, otherwise not all that uncomfortable. The came by to check on me, seem to think I wouldn’t remember our conversation tomorrow which I think is kind of ridiculous. I’m told I came through we with flying colors. The surgeon was nice enough to call my son at college and tell him my status.
