I’m having brain surgery

Outstanding news! I hope you heal up quickly, and that the surgery helped with the issue.

Glad to hear it went well and thanks for coming back to tell us. May it continue to go well and bring all the benefits hoped for.

Mazel tov!

This is my extremely happy face.

I’m glad it went well.

I’m so glad to hear the surgery went well. May your healing time pass quickly and well. Keep us posted.

Nothing perks up your week like a good trepanning.

This is classic Dope. Only thing missing was a live stream of the operation. :upside_down_face:

I remember from days past when members were cautioned to call for medical attention BEFORE opening a thread about arterial bleeding.

Glad you’re doing well. We’re pulling for you.

C’mon back tomorrow and reread the thread just in case! Glad things went so well!

Glad to hear it went well. Best wishes for recovery.

Hooray!

I’m on blood thinners, but I don’t get such extreme bruising. What annoys me is that cuts take so much longer to clot. I’m a menace – to myself – in the kitchen, and I live with bandaids on my fingers it seems.

Good thoughts to you @squeegee!

Anyone on thinners should have QuickClot on hand.

Good news, glad to read it all went well! Have a good night’s rest!

Thanks for the recco. I’m seeing my doc tomorrow so I’ll ask if I need it. Those big sheets would be wasteful for me as my cuts are usually small finger cuts. I’m thinking of getting the getting the small Allaquix pads instead?

So I need to grab the neurosurgeon and ask: if they’ve sealed up the holes in my head (I would hope they would do so!) What’s to stop the original problem whatever that is from building up pressure again and starting the whole thing over? Rinse, repeat forever. ?

You have to assume they cauterized the leaker. Or made sure it’s not leaking anymore.

I hope you recover well. Don’t be surprised of weird thoughts, mild memory lapses. Tomorrow might be weird. Just take it easy. Ask for help if you gotta get up. For anything.
Don’t wanna bump that noggin now.

Yes the holes are really small. They plugged them up.

I’m so so happy you came thru. Better days to come.

I’m so happy to hear your surgery went well, take it one day at a time!

I guess general anesthesia can do that to you. I had GA for minor surgery and while in the recovery room was impatient for the snack I’d been promised afterward (since of course I’d had to fast pre-surgery and was now ravenous) as well as for a post-op report and instructions.

No one came. Finally, I snagged a passing nurse and said, “um, what about food and a chat on what I should do next?”

She said, “The doctor came in and spoke with you and you seemed perfectly lucid. And we already fed you. Sometimes people forget things that happen in the hours after anesthesia.”

I sure did.

And I am delighted that everything went well! I did not see this thread until the update that you were through surgery and okay was already posted. That’s definitely the best way to read a scary thread, although I would have added my best wishes if I had seen the thread before the surgery.

It comes in powder form also. People who use chainsaws should also have it in their kit! (People who use blood thinners should probably not use chainsaws. Just sayin’.)

No worries on that front.

Yay, @squeegee ! Sounds like you came through like a trooper.

Well it looks like I’ll be taking a nice nap shortly. With my blessing my nurse dumped some morphine into my IV bag just now. Definitely felt that in a hurry. I’ve been in a lot of pain in my neck apparently I was in a strange position when they did the procedure and it strained my muscles. Hopefully I’ll get past that shortly
