I made a CD of 8-bit music

Tracks from the following games are included:

2 from The Legend of Zelda
1 Duck Tales (moon level of course)
2 Batman
1 each from Castlevania 1-3
5 The Guardian Legend
1 Super Mario Bros. 2
7 Mega Man 2
5 Mega Man 3
2 Mega Man 4
1 Mega Man 6
6 Ninja Gaiden 1
5 Ninja Gaiden 2
4 Ninja Gaiden 3
3 Battle of Olympus

Honorable mentions that didn’t make the CD:

Contra
Super Mario Bros. 1 and 3
Metroid
Battletoads
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Arcade Game
Willow
Rygar
1943
Shadowgate
Metal Gear
Godzilla
Faxanadu
Dr. Mario
Tetris
Zelda 2: The Adventure of Link
Mike Tyson’s Punch Out
Jackal
Life Force
Blaster Master

I feel bad for not including some of these games, maybe I have too much from the Mega Men and Ninja Gaidens. Any other good NES game soundtracks I’ve missed?

Didn’t include any from Final Fantasy because I have 3 CDs of just FF music separated into slow, medium, and fast types

Super Pitfall
Marble Madness

When or if you get to 16 bit, I hope ‘Donkey Kong Country’ makes the list.

Moved MPSIMS --> Cafe Society.

The great thing is I’ve played each and every one of those games when they came out. I have great childhood memories of those times, humming to the tunes, putting my cassette player next to the TV speakers to record the music…

Rygar would be the only one I would flagellate you for excluding. Every fucking song in that game was so amazing.

Journey to Silius. Almost anything from Sunsoft is good.
Bionic Commando
StarTropics

here’s a youtube playlist of 8-bit remixes I compiled some time ago - some of the videos have gone stale, unfortunately: - YouTube

I really really considered Rygar, but it brought up terrible memories. I think its the only game on that list that, when I finally beat it, I vowed to never play again. That glitchy line that you were supposed to rappel across distances killed me so many times. Also, as a kid, I had no idea I could level up the weapon by killing a bunch of monsters because the game was very vague in terms of exp. So even when I got to the last boss, I was still fairly weak because I kept trying to speedrun my way there

I’m considering redoing the CD a bit. A little less Mega Men and Ninja Gaiden. I might want to include a Life Force in there and I’m really torn about Punch Out and Metroid.

Its funny you mentioned Silius because while searching for tunes, I came across a lot of comments about how this game had amazing music. Unfortunately, I’ve never heard of it until like a few days ago. But I’ll check it out.

Can’t check youtube right now but did you get yours from that Wiiguy309 too? Lots of videos have bad quality, it was only when I found this guy and all of the music in stereo that I decided I had to finally make my CD

And Streets of Rage. And more or less every game ever released on the Amiga.

I have to admit, I was wondering if 8-bit music on 16-bit media would play back at double-speed or something funky like that.

Faceball 2000!

Aside from being a deathmatch-capable FPS for the original Game Boy, it had amazingly addictive theme music.

Nobody ever seems to mention it, though. It’s sad. It deserves more love from the retro gaming world.

I remember that game! It was odd, sorta like if Pac Man had an acid trip and got lost in the maze
